I told you it was going to happen and you scolded me. Nobody thought it would be this bad. And if you did you are one pessimistic SOB lol We’ve watched the trajectory year after year under Carm, strike 1. No Point guard and SD didn’t get his eligibility strike 2. Not to mention how injury prone Siena has been and you have strike 3. Call me a realist.

Mid-major hoops isn't dead until they split to D1A and D1AA. At that point I agree. At the moment, mids just need to make the most of the portal. Kids are going up but many are coming down. Also need to be the big fish and eat the little fish (D2). Sure the 4-year player is likely gone but that's an adjustment not a death sentence. I definitely wouldn't be inclined to take a developmental player.

There just won’t be much excitement outside of league play … quality of OOC opponents have declined - when was last time we saw a marquee team @home … NCAA tourney upsets will be fewer although expanding to 96 will produce some wins & dollars for lower conferences … expect to see fewer players returning … in summary what will be offered to us will be a lesser product than in the past (Siena is not alone in that regard)

That doesn’t mean you can stink all year long. Yeah it’s nice when we hosted (and beat) Stanford at home but just win the games. You have to win games.

The MAAC is a low major hoops conference and the “majority” of its members are small private institutions and lack NIL funding to be relevant and competitive like larger true mid majors. The NIL and portal isn’t a neutralizing tool for all. Larger mids from better conferences are fine, it’s the smaller programs from weak conferences that will suffer and struggle greatly. To be honest there are far too many D1 teams anyways. The numbers have grown each year. It’s probably time for a real thinning of the heard.

There are too many teams. It makes for lower quality hoops from scoring to game play to coaching and even the reffing. It's just a poorer product all around. Siena didn't adjust to stand out from the pack and here we are. They need to cut out about 60 teams to get it to where it was in the heyday of the late 80s through the early 2000s. Unfortunately Siena may end up being one of those teams.

if you haven't done so already - please send an email to the president -board darg -TU editorial page- anyone and everyone if he doesnt go we will NOT renew our season tickets held in our family since 1976 -first year of D1 I’m not disagreeing, but the problem also includes the President and the BOTs. The school has to want a successful mid-major. We know what fans here want. We want a Gonzaga- Valparaiso story and frankly we should get it, even if it’s a smaller version of it. But the dream must start from the leadership and I don’t think it’s there.

MTS … your’re making the case to just show up in Atlantic City every year in March … didn’t know that you & Jimmy Patsos shared the same basketball philosophy 😵💫

I'm not disagreeing with you either- just that if only a handful complain/send an email/express their opinions and request better -better everything-they will assume our silence is complicity or just complacency

The negative impact of this season is bigger than what is discussed on here.

I think they’re going to be in for a rude awakening when they start to see what ticket renewals look like when it’s time to pay.

If the school wants to understand the financial implications of this debacle called Carm, then its real simple. Send a 1 question survey to season ticket holders…do you intend to renew your tickets next year? Take the answers and do the math…what is going to cost more, firing or keeping Carm.

That would require forward thinking and I’m not sure they’re prepared for the answer they’d get. I believe they’ll gamble, and hope Carm’s recruiting class looks enticing enough to lure fans back for year six. I’m sure the dynamic duo (Carm, Darg) have assured the administration that the recent turn of events was an anomaly due to Covid, unforeseen transfers out, the advent of the NIL and the portal and that all will be corrected. We’ll see!

Filling all the scholarships would be a start. No more deals. Either they are good enough to be on scholarship from day one, or they are not.
