I like Steve, but how he can be hoping that Mitch is retained is beyond me. I like Mitch too, but not as a head coach.
Three years ago tonight, I was at a somewhat impromptu post-Maac Championship party at Fran and Margaret's home. I recall telling anyone who would listen that the thrill of going to the Dance would never get old.
That night seems like a lot more than three years ago. Let's hope that somehow the rebuilding of our beloved program does not take as long as its complete destruction. That is a tall order, since it took Fran three years to get to the Dance, but at least Siena's equivalent of "our long national nightmare" is about to be over.

Can steve please let us know why he would want, or think, Mitch deserves another year?
Is he a UA alum?

I honestly believe Steve doesn’t know the difference between a good coach and a bad coach- I won’t even get into the economics. It’s probably been a while since Steve bought a ticket, he apparently has no concept what all those empty seats are “costing” Siena , its mind boggling how he would think Mitch deserves another year

Steve was off the beat early in Fran's tenure, no?
So his and Mitch's relationship has been largely personal rather than professional, correct? I know Steve is at the scorers table in some function for the men and is the color man for the women's radio.
I look at his comments as coming from someone who has clearly developed a friendship with Mitch and he is completely incapable of being objective about the situation.

But if that's the case, Steve shouldn't be commenting, or at least should add a disclaimer acknowledging that he is a friend of Mitch. But even Mitch's friends should be able to accept the fact that he is not a good coach, and that a change has to be made.

Because Mitch is a nice guy and helped Villanova win a national title when Ronald Reagan was President. You laugh but that's the reasoning. Thankfully the Siena admin. doesn't drink that kool-aid.

Not for nothing, he is an employee of Siena and no one should expect him to publically state another Siena employee should be fired.

I don't think it'll take that long to get back to the top this time. Fran inherited a program with an incomplete roster - he had to have Dave Ryan playing center. I believe that though flawed, this team has more talent on hand than it appears - and a good coach can do wonders if he can keep everyone on the current roster as well as the two incoming recruits. They're a stud PG and power forward away from contending. I believe there is sufficient talent available at every other spot that's just in need of a competent system to exploit it.

We need at least 2 legit guards. Obviously a point guard is a priority, but we need a scoring guard with legitimate size too. Hymes and Brookins, if they're still here, will have to get use to coming off the bench. A powerful 4 is important too. The athletic, strong, Franklin-type.

With both Burdine and Poole looking good, we have a solution at the 2, while the other starts at the 3. Audu and Oliver have potential too. Don't discount them because of anything you saw under Mitch.

Burdine and Poole aren't guards. They're both small forwards. I'm talking athletic explosive 6'2" kids in the backcourt. We need two of them, badly.

If Amedio needs a disclaimer, so does Iorizzo, McGuire, Grondahl, Lynch, Wyland, the 6, 10, 13 news, etc.

Amedio and Mitch will have plenty of time to hang out at the Macaroni Grill. They have the largest collection of Macaroni..... I have ever seen
