It is disrespectful to Coach Buonaguro and the young men on the Siena basketball team to talk about Siena hiring a new coach until this season concludes. Siena has only one men's head basketball coach. Until his contract is terminated then all Siena fans should support Coach Buonaguro and our team. I hope that the handful of Siena "fans" that have posted their admiration for Mr. Pastos were not cheering against Siena last night. I don't think that any of us (certainly most of us) want Siena to lose a game......ever. Heck, if Mitch had posted a twenty-win season this year, we'd all be ecstatic, and would be talking about again being one of the top mid-major programs in the country. But that hasn't happened. Not even close. So we have to be realistic (not disrespecful). This will be Mitch's third consecutive losing season since being hired as the head coach at Siena (not including the seasons at Fairfield a generation ago). Nothing we have seen this year points to the situation being any better next year. We always support the players and the program but, as the saying goes: "It is what it is". The program needs a new head coach.

Do you just make this stuff up as you go along? Where did you read that Coach Patsos wants to coach at Siena. HJ started this thread by saying that he heard from somebody that Patsos is not happy about leaving the MAAC, and that HJ thinks that Patsos would be a good candidate for our next coach. So now you've convinced yourself that he wants to coach at Siena? And where did you get the idea that Coach Coen wants to coach here? Yes, he did interview for the job, but that seems to have been not much more than a way for him to get a raise and new contract at Northeastern, not a serious effort to get this job. 22, you should re-read the title of this thread He'd take the job in aminute, if offered. I don't think he would if Loyola was still in the MAAC. I do think he knows he's bought that program as far as it go, and wants to climb the ladder. It might be only one or two rungs, but Siena is a definite upgrade with the opportunity to get tot he next level someday. What Pastos did at this school is beyond remarkable. They were 1-27, nobody came to the games. Last night was their 5th sellout! He'd own this town in 2 years. Gorvy: Prosser went 6-8 in the conference in his one year at Loyola. They got on a lucky streak late led by the deaf kid from DeMatha at the Knick. (Never forget Tracy sitting on the hoop on the front of the TU sports page) I absolutely did read the title of the thread, Junkman. But nowhere in your opening post does it say that Coach Patsos himself says that he wants the Siena job. You passed on what you got from a reliable source, and supported Coach Patsos coming to Siena, all of which is fine. But, until, we hear it from the man himself, it's just hearsay. An impressionable poster like Mr. Yoda apparently misconstrued your post as saying that Coach Patsos has expressed interest in a job which is not yet available. He then adds a few exclamation marks to his misconception, and posts it as fact. I was merely trying to convince him to not express his opinions as facts.

As someone who has missed only the St. Bonaventure game live this season, I think I am qualified to say that I have supported the kids, the staff and the program; I am squarely with Saints 22 on this...three loosing seasons here, totally sideways during games with regard to substitutions, time outs and number of player fouls....press conferences where players get thrown under the bus....The program needs a new HC and staff.

GlensFalls: I know that most of the Siena fans don't support coach Buonguoro, but don't lose heart. I can tell you that he has a great deal of support around the Maac from the fans of the other 9 teams.

Many people were apprehensive When Mitch was hired given his prior record at Fairfield. He told us he had learned his lesson, after all he had picked up a lot from 8 years with Fran. He told us he could save the recruits. He told us he wouldn’t change Siena’s style other than a few “tweaks” to the defense . That fans and players both liked to watch and play uptempo. Mitch as failed to deliver o his promises. I fact he wasn’t close to what he said he would do. So as far as I’m concerned Mitch had no respect for the fan base- he only said what he thought would get him the job- so since he didn’t respect the fans why I the world should we respect him. Respect has to work two ways

Hey, everyone...Fordham hoops fan (and alum) here...I decided to join this board because I grew up in Loudonville, I'm the son of a Siena alum, and I've been a big Siena basketball fan since I was a little kid. Here in the Bronx we're also going through a hellish season (we were down 71-27 to LaSalle at one point yesterday!), so I figured I'd drift on over and see what was happening in Saints land...
Anyone here think Siena would try to hire Mike Rice if he gets canned at Rutgers?

Anyone see that Patsos' team lost to Marist yesterday? Does that give anyone pause? Games like that happen to good /GREAT teams. he 09/10 Siena team lost 87-74 to Niagara. And that Niagara team was only (9-9) in the MAAC that year !

He is EXACTLY what this program needs. He'll bring toughness and energy. He can flat out recruit and he'll do even better with all that Siena has to offer. 100% correct. Siena is going to be bad for 2 more years, maybe this guy can light a fire and get some concentration out of these guys. It will be fun to go to games. .500 would be a miracle with this group, no matter who coaches.
