I found out about this last night from a source that has first hand knowledge of this. Jimmy isn't big on leaving the MAAC for the Patriot. He also knows how good a job Siena can be. Having first hand knowledge of the league will also shorten the learning curve a new guy would need.
He can coach, and he can recruit. His big personality is also perfect for this area. Siena basketball garners the most attention of any sport, and we could use a colorful personality taking us back to the top of the MAAC standings.
I'd hire him in a minute if he wanted this job.

He is not my cup of tea. I would like someone a little more reserved and polished. A young Hewitt or Fran would be more in line with Siena's image.

Jimmy wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't have a problem either with him. His record is only around .500 but when he got to Loyola it was at the bottom of D1 for many years and had basically little to no history/success in basketball.

Reserved and polished?! lol I would take him in a second-coach's with discipline, WINS and yells just like Fran did ! There was nothing like seeing Fran yelling at the Manhattan coach in the 09 MAAC !! However, you wonder if a bigger school might be calling him.

He doesn't have the juice for a BCS gig on even A10 type of job. Patsos at best would be looking to go to a top mid-major like a Siena. Again.. there are others I would look at before him but we could do worse too. Who's bringing the "WE WANT JIMMY" banner next Saturday night?

A young Hewitt or Fran would be more in line with Siena's image. actually, he has toned it down quite a bit from when he first burst on the maac scene..........can remember his first game here in Albany, he spent one whole time out cursing out one of his players, then when they took the floor, he proceeded to burn another time out to continue his tirade on that same player, not once did that kid look him right square in the face, it was classic............also a coach that would sweat through his suit/sport coat with ease.........very very passionate, and also well respected among his peers for what its' worth!!!!!!!!!!!

Q- In the last 3 years- has his temper ever been soo bad that players have left the program ? Because if his players are not leaving and he able to recruit ..what more to do you want ?!
I tell you this much..if Pastos really wants the job ! He or someone he knows can easily leak it to the media - or - a third party can reach out to Siena !

I like him personally, but I think there will be more dynamic, better choices in the applicant pool. I think this will be very interesting..depending how much info leaks out. Perhaps we should pool funding and have MTS stake out the ARC after the 'announcement'.

Interesting note: If he did get the job at Siena ...he would already know the strengths and weaknesses of all the players on the team-and what this team needs ! And hows how to win in the conference ! Thats huge ! They must love him at Loyola ! This was posted on youtube ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfTE_BobiRc

His knowledge of our roster, and the rest of the MAACs is a huge plus and will get us back on track quicker than an outsider could. This area would eat his personality up. He smart, sharp and tells it like it is. Our team is S-O-F-T and he would never allow that. We need tougher kids. Physically, and mentally.
He also has a lot of respect for this program, and knows how special it can be.
