Pretty impressive! But how can he possibly talk that long without a stat sheet in front of him? this post needs some recognition as one of the best in recent times. Very well played. this is one of my biggest issues with Mitch. When he finishes a game he is like an Alzheimer's patient. He NEEDS to look at the stat sheet to figure out what happened. Other coaches will flat out tell you. "We got killed on the board.", "Looking back, I should've gone to the bench more", and some will get extremely detailed explaining a scenario that happened. Mitch =

I have said it many times on this board, I would love Patsos as the Siena Coach!
He has taken Loyola, who Siena could count on beating when Lanier and Beyer were coaching and made them a solid program. Imagine what he would do with Siena's resources...
Also I have decided Mitch is the worst coach in program history. I know everyone thinks Beyer then Lanier but Mitch took the program from its highest point, and ran it into the ground. As I write that i realize that it actually takes some skill to be as bad as he is.

misspractice - excellent post. Well said. You can like/not like Mitch but there were reasons to give him a shot. One can argue over it all day but in the end he hasn't worked out and pretty much everyone has now agreed that is the case.
I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of Patsos but I can say dang near anyone would be better at this point. Jimmy also has a knack for bringing in quality transfers so the recovery may be quicker than not. Any coach would be able to scout the league so I'm not sure that's all that big a deal but he is a personality. He'd probably be much better in the post-game than Mr. "I forgot he was on the bench".

Pretty impressive! But how can he possibly talk that long without a stat sheet in front of him? Funny...until a couple weeks ago - you had Mitch as the second coming. Second, I think no matter who Siena gets your going to have some issue with him ! Give me a break ! Wow! Not even close, pal, on either comment.

My original thought of this suggestion was we don't want a lunatic as a coach. You have to give real thought and delve into Patsos and his reasonings. As an ardent Siena fan, I've been to most every gym Siena has played in at the ECAC North, NAC, and MAAC conferences. Loyola student and fan attendance under Gaudio and Ellerbe resembled St. Peter's home game attendances. Jimmy arrives as coach and he energizes the students into attending. He also brought in a local high school band that had that gym rocking every home game. As has been expressed on this board he has brought in transfers in Anthony Smith(I believe), Gerald Brown, and Erik Etherly. My one true concern is would the recruits he brings in have thick enough skin when Jimmy gets in their face correcting them on their mistakes and missed assignments. And last but not least he is great at making these players aware of history and historical places. I recommend all watch the 6th man interview on this blog. It's very good.

What did Fran do when someone blew an assignment or played like crap? Your choices are: 1. Blew his Irish top off 2. acted calm, cool and collected 3. Got them a cannoli at Bella Napoli * Fran's teams always had tough SOB's ! Moore, Rossiter, Hasbrouck, Ubiles, Franklin...right down to the bench. Why ? Because he yelled at them ..when they needed it ! And he never had any problems getting recruits ! Attachments:

Remember Patsos was the only MAAC coach who publicly stated he felt the Tourney belonged in Albany once Ensor decided "UConn territory" was better suited (Springfield). Will Siena pay him ?

Remember Patsos was the only MAAC coach who publicly stated he felt the Tourney belonged in Albany once Ensor decided "UConn territory" was better suited (Springfield). Will Siena pay him ? LE; just to point out it was the college presidents wanted it moved because Siena had too much of a "home court advantage". Siena won the MAAC tournament ONCE in 12 tries at the KNICKERBOCKER/PEPSI/TU ARENA before the 3 year run that Trenton bailed out in the middle year. Those presidents, AD's, and coaches turned their heads to the fact that Siena was the "BEST TEAM" those 3 years. And they narrowly missed making it 4 straight years when they lost to Niagara in Bridgeport in '07. And one of the truly great memories as a Siena fan was taking out Marist in that semifinal that year. Their players were laughing and carrying on as they left the court with a sizeable lead at halftime only to see Siena come back to win. I'm sure it still sticks in the craw of fans of Marist, regular season champ that year, to this day. Not to mention the year ('99) Siena beat the Red Foxes in Buffalo in the semifinal when on the last possession needing a 3 pointer to tie their 6'8" Lithuania player drove inside the 3 point line to score a 2 point basket.

This is an irresponsible thread. This is a basketball discussion board this topic is clearly in bounds.

Note to the media- have the guts to ask him ! Don't be silly..its mid season and Loyola is in the MAAC- the media wont and shouldn't ask--and even if they did Pastos wouldn't and shouldn't answer it..use your head man

Who was the Loyola coach who left the bench to sit in the stands during a game?

Mr. Siena: I was complimenting Mr. Patsos for speaking up with regards to Albany being the permanent site of the MAAC T. MAAC Tourneys have been largely ineffective in Buffalo, Bport ,Springfield and Trenton NJ. Based on my experience attending MAAC basketball since NU joined the league from the old NAC, the MAAC T. belongs in Albany.
