Welcome to Siena, Sloan!! Looks like a talented player- hope he proves the doubters wrong and shows a lot of grit. Guys who are 6’9 and can shoot it don’t grow on trees for mid-majors. Coach Christian is a passionate guy if he can’t get your motor going nobody can. JC will have to coach this kid up. But he’s hitting the trail very hard so far despite getting the job late. Well...nowadays they kind of do. Now if you said he could defend, rebound, AND shoot...that would be a different story. At his size, if he could do all that at this point, he wouldn't be going to a MAAC program. Time will tell what we've got.

We've got a guy who will shoot a 3...then another...then another....then another. www.d1circuit.com/roster_players/17820611If he scores a 2pt field goal, it's by accident.

Admittedly takes way more threes than twos based on the stats in your link. On those twos, however, he is over 50%, he had a 2:1 assist to TO ratio and averaged 2.2 rebounds and 8.2 pts in 13.1 minutes per game off the bench. Those aren't shabby numbers. There is a highlight reel where he can be seen making a lot of twos from the midrange: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTMaMTghYOAHe's really got a nice touch. He may end up being a one trick pony, but it's the best trick you can have in the game of basketball.

But in a system dependent on forcing the turnover, why wouldn’t you just get another athletic wing or a rim running big? Wings can shoot threes too and they’re quicker in transition and more disruptive in the press. Hasn’t Siena already seen too many soft face up 4s?

Having just lost Horn, this team is in dire need of shooters. There wasn't a pure shooter left on the roster. Now we have one.
Sloan may not be a perfect solution, but the options are limited at this stage of the game. Not many athletic wings who can shoot left out there, I wouldn't think. Do we know of ANY?
I hope he ends up earning your respect in the long run.

No comment. Don't wanna ruin the party out here. I've seen him play a dozen times in person. Anyone else?! JC took a major step back today. 😢

Sloan: Fire in the belly, run, run, run, hit the weights. Could be a forerunner to signing his teammate Jake.

To me, it’s simple. Coach Christian is responsible for this team now and is recruiting for his vision. I, for one, am going to give him the room he needs to makeover the roster as he sees fit.
As for Sloan, I only know him from what is written out here and what Some highlights. By all accounts, he is a plus shooter. Stop worrying about what he can’t do and focus on what he can do well. It will be up to the coaches to figure how to best use him and how to utilize him in a way they maximizes his strengths and hides his opportunity areas.

He has size-- cant coach size. We need players it's mid may-- I'll remind everyone Fran's first 4 recruits were Braga, Osby,Diop and Kenny- So 1 for 4. If Degan doesnt come back ( is it confirmed?) Or Friday cant handle JC's system, you guys would kill JC for not getting another big man. Anyway Welcome Sloan!!

HJ may be right but at this point, at least for me, the last two posts are spot on.

what are the chances of naming Seymour assistant coach and saving the scholarship? I thought typically an employee had to be with a school a certain number of years before their kids could attend for free.

Saw him twice wasn’t overly impressed with his motor or toughness. However he’s big and can really shoot. Obviously that’s a long list of decent programs that saw something at one time.
Maybe coach gets this kid motivated. Can’t teach size and ability to shoot it deep. Have to believe JCs got a use for size and a shooter.
I’ll need to see what coach does with SS before condemning.

With that said still waiting for that difference maker recruit. "Decent programs?" My thread on this says it all. HIGHEST RECRUIT EVER. I challenge anyone to show me a list of any recruit, in the history of the program, with a better list than the one Seymour, allegedly, has.
