Wonder if he’s coming this year or next... I think he really needs a prep year to be a D1 player but would seem very strange for him to commit now if he’s prepping.
I’d guess he’ll be here for 2018.

Coming in the fall and will most likely redshirt. Gives him The opportunity to get in shape and add the 15 lbs he needs to add to be competitive and see if this staff can get him to rebound and defend at a level needed to play D1. Interesting signing for sure. Don’t know what the rush was to accept the commitment.

In May, you probably aren’t going to be able to find a big that isn’t a big project. Sloan has upside, and with the right coaching he can be pretty good. My bigger concern isn’t the putting on weight or developing his rebounding— it’s his desire. Too many times when I watched him he was going through the motions on the court, didn’t really have that fire, very quiet. THAT’S the thing I worry about. The other stuff is fixable especially if you aren’t going to be expected to do too much as a frosh— JC had a kid who is somewhat similar this year in Bobby Planutis (6-8 but wire thin and an elite shooter) but Planutis competed hard on the glass and was known as a hard worker. Sloan is going to need to have the hardest summer of his life and probably the hardest year of his life and change the way he works if he’s going to be a good D1 player.

I love it when the program gets local kids, so happy for the commitment overall.
Prior to tonight, I had never seen him play beyond brief local news clips which seemed to reveal some body language that looked a bit disinterested. That was my primary concern with him - MOTOR.
Looking at highlights tonight, I feel a bit more encouraged. He has a super sweet looking shot from all distances that I could see. Major range. Clearly not yet strong enough to bang inside with MAAC bigs, but if he can spread the floor with that shot and do even an OK job defending in the paint, he would be an appreciating asset as the years roll by and he puts on some muscle.
Just hope JC can help get his motor started.

Welcome to Siena, Sloan!! Looks like a talented player- hope he proves the doubters wrong and shows a lot of grit. Guys who are 6’9 and can shoot it don’t grow on trees for mid-majors. Coach Christian is a passionate guy if he can’t get your motor going nobody can. JC will have to coach this kid up. But he’s hitting the trail very hard so far despite getting the job late.

Well...nowadays they kind of do. Now if you said he could defend, rebound, AND shoot...that would be a different story.

I hope he's not going load up on soft big men that he's not going to use like he did at MSM.
Get your guards and run dude.
Seymour is probably not going to become a tough big man all of sudden for JC. JC's teams are soft on the interior and don't rebound. Bigs like this could be a habit for him.
