for those who get SNYTV in their sports package the Fordham-Harvard game is on at 4pm if you want to get a preview of Fordham. I think Fordham might also have a free video stream on their home website

Fordham also has the academic reputation that MAAC teams don't have Sienafan. That means something as well to many kids and their families. Ivy and Patriot League schools have those academic reputations too...and they aren't getting recruits like this. So spare me.

Why would recruits the level of Severe and Paschall choose to play in the Ivy or Patriot leagues when they can stay home and play in the A-10 and still get a great education? Fordham got lucky in that they were able to land 2 "different" kids with families that value an education just as much as basketball. Iona recruited Paschall but obviously cant compete with Fordham on a academic level. Nobody dislikes Fordham and their arrogant fan base more than I do, but I have to give credit to Pecora for landing some high level recruits, and they are involved with some high level recruits that are connected to Severe and Paschall. Looking forward to a high scoring game Monday night and expect Long and White to have big games.

I agree hoopsfan-- you have to hand it to Pecora.. he is landing some top notch talent-- at a place its not easy to recruit to

If being in the A10 is the reason Fordham can get a Severe and Siena can't (I kinda of disagree with that) then is there ANY doubt why Siena should AND will be out the door to the A10 the second they invite us? Siena's history to Fordham isn't even close. We are so much better of a basketball program than they are the past 25 years it isn't even close. Yes they are a better academic school but let's be honest with most kids that doesn't matter and actually hurts them in the long run (harder to get kids in).

I agree a lot of times academics come second for most recruits, but in the cases of Severe and Paschall, academics did play an important role. Plus it looks like Fordham is taking chances on some kids. They have Ryan Rhoomes who had questionable grades and have 6'10'' Manny Suarez as a partial qualifier this year who is considered a very good recruit. If Siena lands in the A-10 when it comes to recruiting battles with Fordham it will come down to choosing academics and playing in a dump or playing in an arena in front of 6000-7000 fans every game.

Watching Fordham they are looking pretty good so far-- they have one big guy who is load-- looks to be about 270 or more.. a bunch of gunner on Fordham Frazier looks like he shoots whenever he touches ball.. and unless everyone else height is off no way Severe is 6'3"-- which explains how a 6 foot shooting guard slipped to Fordham -- hoping Rams beat Havard..Rams have some talent but are not well coached-- I have never been impressed with Pecora's coaching abilty -- which explains why Fordham is so up and down.. Rams fading Havard on 11-0 run

You just mentioned 2 leagues lower than the MAAC. And you stated Siena was above Fordham in every way except for one. HOWEVER, they are not in academics and you just ingnored that fact.

Would be great if Jimmy established a relationship with my old HS Christ the King (Severe's school) ... They have consistently developed Div I players both girls and boys ... Ali landed perhaps the second best senior girl for next year I'll take Patsos DMV connections over trying to deal with NYC area recruits any day of the week.

All things being equal—academics can play a part- most kids want to go to the highest level they can play- so if academics was the major factor Harvard Yale and or Princeton would be winning national championship. Siena fans were going off deep end on Severe after watching him today—kid is a major league talent- can score in bunches—but reason why he is at Fordham is the kid is about 6 foot tall—he had a lot of interest coming out of CTK — but he made a good choice Fordham will build team around him—in A10—not a bad gig for him if Rams can start winning – getting back to Siena—Saints will have to make him work for his points, looks like he can go off big time and fill it up in a hurry. Looks like Fordham going to lose at home- so team will be hungry coming into Albany- Fordham can score but not impressed with their defense- if we score good chance of beating Rams

Frazier scored 33 against Cuse. Severe had 19 in that game as well. Should be a good test for the Saints.
Side note Syracuse stays unbeaten came back today to beat #8 Nova. Down 18 and ended up winning by 16.

With this kind of thinking we would have passed on Rossiter and OD among others . . . there are plenty of Catholic HSs in Tri-State area where Siena could get quality recruits . . . drawing from these areas also helps in the recruitment of students . . . focusing or limiting recruitment to Metro DC and Baltimore is short-sighted
