Now we would LOVE to believe that we are considerably more advanced BUT... let us all remember the vaccine of the Flu of 1918... paralysis, death, permanent disabilities. You cant rush this stuff... no matter when an election is. Amazingly, science has advanced quite a bit since then!

True, science has advanced but this is hard stuff. Also, this isn't nearly the Spanish Flu. Reported mortality rates are continuing to drop. Mostly, I think because we've learned that ventilators may be more harm than good for most people and that HCQ does, in fact work in spite of the fact that Trump was pushing it.

For what its worth there are several vaccines that are just about ready. Moderna has been very successful and France just paid for 60 million doses before it is even ready and the rest of the EU is right behind them. We unfortunately are sucking hind tit.
If you have any extra coins laying around buy their stock

My niece an epidemiologist in the midst of this crisis is predicating “normalcy” won’t return until Sept 2021 ... which would be fast tracking the normal cycle of development, testing, manufacturing, and distribution of a vaccine ... hope she is wrong

Yes we all do.. The local Docs were seeing cases as far back as November That they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the patients, tried all flu remedies, none worked, than all of a sudden they got better. Tough virus. Fortunately our younger folks , the future don’t seem to be affected as much as the majority here. I believe we are just going to have to learn to live with it.
For those over 65, be careful and safe. We all have some underlying condition as we get older, admit it and be careful. You still have to converse, seek interaction but safely for you mental health as well. Good luck to all, be stay well.

How stupid is the guy (or guys) from the Marlins who "went out" in Atlanta? Whoever was responsible for what happened should be suspended w/o pay for a significant period of time. The MLBPA should also sanction/penalize the players involved. Idiots!

No way there’s hoop this season. Unfortunately it’s more a reality than some want to believe. Rates are steadily climbing in the late teen to twenty something population. You can see it in the Capital District area. Once students are back in school and on campus it’s a pretty good bet that cases increase exponentially. Look for a repeat of March with remote learning and shut downs.

Are you prepared to just end life forever? Never play sports. We have to learn to live with it. The cure will kill us before the disease. If you’re healthy and under 50 years old you have virtually no danger. And please I know I’ll get attacked. Outliers happen and they are terrible but you don’t make policy on anecdotal stories. There are people on this board who are rooting against the season happening. Go tell that to Carm and those kids who are working their asses off!

Look I’m no fan of lock downs and shutting everything under the sun but we’re starting to see that some people lack common sense when it comes to social distancing protocols. Yes the virus isn’t necessarily bad as far as mortality numbers go for the twenty something crowd but they can easily transmit it to those who are in high risk categories. There needs to be a balance between trying to get back to normal and exercising caution. College sports will most likely have to wait. You might need a new hobby for a spell.
