The NCAA has nothing to do with the college football playoff. Not the BCS-eligible teams, but the NCAA does have football championships for other D-I teams, and for D-II and D-III schools.

I hope you are right Gorvy but we still have to get through the end of summer Labor Day Weekend and I fear that things could get all mucked up again as folks just wave caution to the wind for one last fling - should that happen, we will also have the added impact of our normal flu season which will further confuse and confound the situation - I hope everyone gets their normal annual flu shots - my doctor's office has already notified patients to get it early - a must this year for sure...

No doubt hopefully everybody does the right thing through the end of summer and beyond (masks, social distance) and gets their vaccines whenever possible. The saliva test should encourage more testing and be another tool to slow the spread. It seems to be more convenient (I'd rather spit than have a long stick shoved up my nose) and gets quicker, as accurate results at an achievable price. Just the availability should enable options to open everything up in a responsible way.

Now if students on campus can only maintain some semblance of self control ... UNC just returned to all online classes after Covid19 outbreak in 3 dorms and fraternity house

I admit it’s been a while ( 😇) since I was college age, but I’m pretty sure that I had more of a sense of responsibility than I’m seeing on many campuses around the country these days. How hard can it be to stay away from crowds and just do what is in everyone’s best interest? Seriously!

ACC will be next to cancel football. This season is doomed unless they go in the bubble.

Several references now to a different number of ncaa tournament teams. I think they will go to 32 which of course would be a blow to Siena's chances.

I’d be shocked if most if not all are not back to remote learning by late fall.

College kids are much safer on campus. Why would you send them home to live with older adults?
This has almostly ZERO affect on them (check the stats)... forget the very rare "outliers" live in the real world.
Older teachers/students with conditions (again very rare) can have adjustments/accommodations made for them.

What happens at home doesn't.

If they do a bubble do two seperate 32 team bubbles and the winners advance to the final four. If they do only 32 teams they better just do one team per conference. Otherwise the NCAA tournament is over as a know it.

I didn't have a chance to read the article but I was thinking that if they had to change anything create a 32 team bubble but have a 64 team tourney. Same conference teams would play-in to make the bubble wherever possible with regional matchups making the balance. Boom! Done.
