The only thing that gets Siena Administration's attention is $$$$. As long as attendance is good, sponsorships are strong and the Big Donors are funneling their $ to the program, the administration is not going to make a coaching change for next season. I am not aware of any Big Donors or Sponsors making noise about JP and the state of the program. Season tickets holders can make all the noise you want.... not going to make a difference unless a significant number drop their tickets (like many on here claim they are planning to do). I will believe that when I see it. Even under Patsos, Siena basketball (along with Saratoga) are the best sporting events in the Capital District area. Where you going to go, UAlbany? Even though they have been winning the past several years, I have been to many of their games, the program, atmosphere, style of play, etc. does not rival Siena. The lack of attendance and local interest supports that. So suck in up boys or put you $$$ where you mouth is. Jimmy will be back next year.

There was a lot of talk about BOT members talking about a buyout during the season. On this board.

Time will tell. Hey, if the pronosticators on here really want to know the future of JP and the program, just go to D'Arg. He will give you the straight answer...

He will be the head coach next year based on Siena’s financial commitment to him.

He will be the head coach next year based on Siena’s financial commitment to him. Siena learned NOTHING from the Mitch disaster. For a business school they are HORRIBLE at negotiating these contracts. I predicted that he would only return because Siena could not afford it. They'll sell us the BS that they believe in him, etc etc etc but really we know he's not the guy but we simply can't pay him to go away. The last hope is he knows he'll be canned after next year and takes another job making up the difference.

Well MTS got his wish yesterday when Fran's Iowa team went out meekly in their tournament and did not prolong the agony. LOL

Patsos should be back next year. We all know the current status of roster and recruiting. I think he should be able to reap the reward if he did unearth some gems. And he should be holding the bag of shit if it breaks that way. There is ZERO reason to allow the program to fall off following this year's graduations. No excuses next year. NONE.

I believe Jimmy will be back. The combination of the team's play over the last month or so, his cleaning up of his conduct on the sidelines and the cost of the buyout in light of the financial problems many private colleges face have secured his return. However, there are a number of people involved in the governance of the College who are not pleased with Jimmy as the face of the College, as evidenced by the decision not to solicit donors for the Coaches' Enhancement Fund, as had been done going back to Fran's tenure. I hope the administration has learned that there is a difference between extending the duration of a contract and extending the length of a buyout. It will be interesting to see where things stand a year from now.

I hope they do none of thoseagain as long as he is coach. I think he performs better under the threat of termination, and with roster turnover at an all time high the perception of coach continuity does not hold water anymore.

It will be interesting to see where things stand a year from now. While I don't completely agree with the decision to bring Jimmy back I also understand it. It's hard to fire a guy who finished the season 13-6 and was a point away from the NCAA tournament. That said I don't think a zebra changes his stripes so the behavior issues will likely come into play again. It seems though the biggest reason Siena won't make a change is financial concerns and that doesn't surprise me in the least. It's all about the money - even with the strong finish had Siena owed less money to Jimmy I think we'd see a coaching change. I'm still hopefully JP will decide to cut a deal and move on to another job on his own this off-season. How likely that is nobody knows. In the meantime I want the program to go forward and work towards getting back to the NCAA tournament and being a top mid-major program. I don't want to hear about rebuilding or losing four 1,000 point scorers next year or not being able to get certain players. Siena should complete for the MAAC championship as outlined in their stated goals.

Why on earth would JP "decide to cut a deal and move on to another job"? That makes no sense whatsoever!
