And figuring out that this isn't Loyola. For all we have to praise our four year seniors for their tenacity this weekend, and the way the fan base and community feels the heartbreak for those kids, it should be a clear message to JP that the expectations around this program are different. The revolving door needs to slow way down. Recruitment needs to be taken to the next level. No scholarship should be spent unwisely. Every game on the schedule counts. That is what repairs the last 7 years of the program.

And no extensions and price increases. The poor attendance this season is not a coincidence.

Never liked those pay to play tourneys ... NIT offers the opportunity to play in the Garden the Mecca of college basketball - not a bad consolation prize for not making it to the Dance

Showing so many of their games on Time Warner makes it too easy not only for the casual fan but the loyal fans to "stay home and watch it sitting in their recliner". No doubt this has an impact on attendance.

Look around the TUC during the regular season ... what you see are a lot of families w kids ... 9:00 time shut them out in addition to it being a school night ... casual fan stayed home and watched it on ESPN... although I thought that 8k would have showed up

Great turn-out by the students - 1,723 tickets sold. Too many of the rest of our fans did not show. Hopefully there will be some carryover to 2017-18 on student attendance.

I haven't been a consistent poster on the board for a while, so I don't know how people feel, but I am curious to see how many people are debating whether to renew season tickets or not. I definitely had some moments during the year made me wonder if this was worth it (I had a lot of games going solo and not using 1 of my 2 tickets) but I will be back.
I don't disagree with what a lot of people say about games being on TV, and the timing of the games moving the needle somewhat, but I believe the bottom line, put a winning team on the court, people will come. We need some big time players!! Siena also REALLY needs to develop its younger fanbase!

The pathetic attendance last night (considering the importance of the game) is indicative of what has happened to the program... I wouldn't say the crowd was pathetic. Having been there, the atmosphere was electric and LOUD. If the attendance was 7506, yes it's a disappointment, but it didn't feel like it was only 7506. How did it look and sound on TV? Having said that, YES, it is a shame that interest in the program seems to be at it's lowest level ever. I don't post much on this board but I do access it and read it a zillion times a day, LOL. I do want to share that like many huge Siena supporters and fans alike, I had a "melt-down" during this frustrating season (just after the Vermont game on December 29th). I was furious. Left the game with 7 minutes to play. I have never left a Siena game early. I was so angry at where this program had become, that I told all my fellow Siena Season Ticket Holders and friends around me, that I would no longer come to the remaining games to express my sheer anger and frustration with the Siena Administration, Program and Coach Patsos. I vowed not to return and that I would not be renewing my season tickets next year (I have had season tickets for 27 years). I wrote and sent a scathing email to Siena College President, F. Edward Coughlin on February 7th (Siena was 10-14 at that point in the season). *Note, I never received a response letter). I felt terrible but I had to do something to express my utter frustration and disappointment with what I felt was "EVERYTHING Wrong" with this program. Long story short, I "boycotted" and purposely missed 6 games. Of course, trying to stay away from Siena Basketball isn't easy. It's like an addiction. I had a "relapse" and found myself coming back to see the Iona, Monmouth, and Senior Night Marist Game (two of those games were hard to watch). I had purchased 2 All Session MAAC Tickets at the beginning of the Season in October. Mid-December (around the Bucknell) game, I had already became so frustrated that I contacted the Siena Ticket Office to ask them to pull my MAAC Ticket Applicatioin and let it be known to them why. I wasn't going to pay $330 dollars to watch this crap. My tickets were processed but I was given a refund. Come MAAC Tourney Time, last Saturday, I had decided I had to come support my Siena Saints and these kids. I purchased the cheapest tickets upstairs ($18.50) for the first 2 games and after the Monmouth game, I bought the $50 dollar seats for downstairs in Section 121. I thoroughly enjoyed that 3 day run because for the first time in so many years, attending a Siena game was "fun" again. It felt great for the last 3 days. It was like old times again. That sea of Green and Gold in that arena last night was magical. The students were awesome. The fans were awesome. The energy was incredible. It felt like 2008- 2010 again. The last 7 years have been "crap". Minus Patsos's CbI run his first year, it has been nothing but a downward spiral. Everyone hates going to the games. Everyone leaves miserabe. Everyone sits around bitching and complaining about the program. Talk to anyone........no one has been happy. This weekend was wonderful and renewed my passion for Siena and the basketball program........but "changes" have to be made. We all know what the answer is. Letters and emails making our feelings known are important. So is our wallets. The time is now.

If they decide to up the price or do away with the cheaper option then I won't renew and will cherry pick games. Should be plenty of $5 promotional tickets available next year.

Boy sometimes I wonder who the Siena fans are on this board. If there's a chance for our seniors to play another game, go for it.

After seven straight years of not winning a MAAC title are we suddenly going to pretend that we are too good for a tournament that every other team in the MAAC would accept a bid to?
