Why on earth would JP "decide to cut a deal and move on to another job"? That makes no sense whatsoever! Because getting fired from a mid-major is the death nail for your career...ask Rob Lanier had an NCAA/NIT bid HM asst at Texas probably will never sniff another HC job. It's also a major reason Siena never should have hired Mitch. Nobody wants to get fired...it's called getting out of town before the posse comes. Patsos overall record is still reasonable to a low-major type of school. He had a bad year and gets fired next year he'll never be a HC again. Hey maybe he's cool with that. But again it's all about the $$$$$ - he won't leave any on the table so he would have to cut a deal with Siena. We aren't in a good situation especially if Nico doesn't return. The frosh had better be all-world and he better bring in more talent. No seniors on next year's team. Mediocre sophomores/juniors...we all know JP is not the best X/O coach either he's got to have players...with four 1000 point scorers - he managed to go .500 what's he going to do without them?

Why on earth would JP "decide to cut a deal and move on to another job"? That makes no sense whatsoever! It's the "Good for me" MTS way of thinking. If it's good for him, it could happen Only way he's leaving is with his guaranteed money.

I'm saying a scenario of Siena pays him 300K and a high-major asst job pays him 300K and he gets his money and doesn't have to go down in flames next year. Hey maybe it's stubborn enough to think he can turn it around but (and I sincerely hope I'm wrong) this is going to end badly for him in 365 days.

But you can. ps-one more basket and you'd be getting Jimmys face tattooed on your arm.

Mike - You should put this in your sig: "...with four 1000 point scorers - he managed to go .500 what's he going to do without them?" We can check it next year. Personally, I like to be optimistic. I think we have seen some solid (not superior) play from Shivers, Richards, Friday and Smithen. Not necessarily do each have it all in one package, but each has some strengths they bring to the table. Many have spoken of 'chemistry' or lack thereof this year. Well, next year this will be Nico's team and if he can show some leadership, expand his skillset (drive to the hoop more and dish as he is being covered) then I can see the 'chemistry' being even better. I want to evaluate the freshman once they get here. But I personally don't think we will do as badly as many here may think. You know as well as I do that sometimes teams who lose talented players often do better for some reason.

That narrative doesn't fit. Nothing wrong with being an assistant at those high levels. Probably less stress than as a HC even at the MM level.

Nico is a big key if he returns and buys in and plays team ball and JP signs a couple more quality recruits maybe the sum can be greater than the parts and we can contend for the MAAC championship. That has to be the hope anyway. But you need one big player to build around.

Who has the better gig today, Lanier or Patsos? Money is comparable.

Lanier and Beyer made much more money at the BCS schools as assistants.

No excuses? So you're expecting exactly what next year? And dont give me any "competitive" or "competing for the MAAC title" stuff. Give me a record that would calm you down.
