Last time Iona won an NCAA tournament game Jimmy Carter was president. Only Siena and Manhattan win NCAA games from the MAAC.
Still a good effort from the Gals...bad match-up with Iowa St who could make a deep run in the tournament.
Next year Siena-Monmouth will battle for the MAAC title...Iona will be a factor but will miss three seniors including an all-time great in English. They will bring in talent but no question they will drop off.

Tough match up for Iona—Iowa state jumped out to quick double figure lead and Iona never really threatened, Gals didn’t embarrass themselves .. but after taking a quick 5-0 lead Iowa state led the last 37 min of game—most of the time by double digits. Iona like most MAAC teams not named Siena or Manhattan is over its head in NCAA. Great year for gals—clues got most out of team .. back to reality next year for Iona and Iona fans—gals wont stink, but they won’t come anywhere near challenging for title

Maybe they get a graduate transfer but mostly those guys are role players. I still would put them in the top 4 but there is no excuses not to finish ahead of them next year.

And even if they take a step down talent wise, their system is a tough match up for a team with our style of play.

Anyone ever take the time to go to the MAAC website and read the strategic plan. Really hits on academics and athletes. Perhaps they the MAAC should hold schools accountable.

But a 5 year guaranteed 6 million dollar contract would be very appealing to a 57 year old man. If Rutgers wants him have to imagine Cluess is gone www.sny.tv/college-recruiting,rutgers/news/rutgers-targeting-ionas-tim-cluess-boyle-pikiell-still-in-mix/167940298

All we need next year is another role player or two...I believe we have the best starting 5 in the MAAC with four seniors and Nico.
