You must be prepared for a pro-rant response when posting on a teams message board when posting a contrary opinion. You reference in your post "what message boards were about"... well then you must also accept that when posting negative/contrary opinion related to any team on their "Fan Site" that you are going to get an often one-sided response. there are plenty of times that I post things on this board that others dont agree with and get a backlash for it. You must weigh an anticipated response of pro-Siena and let it wash off your back.

Hoopsfan, not sure what you expect to happen based on your rehashing and spinning history. Lavon was recruited by folks who actually watched most, if not all, of his games during at least his last year in HS. If the "issue" you raised was real don't you think the staff would have noticed it and started working on fixing it when Lavon FIRST ARRIVED at Siena in June? If it was real and they thought they couldn't "fix" it, do you think they would have offered? The kid plays his heart out and does it extremely well as has been evidenced SINCE he arrived at Siena. Lavon made several of the most spectacular OB saves the other night (and the fact that our opponent was D3 has zero bearing on those plays) - he gave up his body and made well directed taps to open players or far enough down court to allow our defense to reset. Lavon will, by the nature of his game, foul but he is smart enough to adjust and I don't mean play the matador! If you are just posting to exhibit your skills at stat research and analysis that's great - we get it. If you are just trying to throw cold water on a fan base hungry for wins AND exciting fast paced play that's sad. If you are thinking the issue you are trying to manufacture would not be noticed and acted on by this staff shame on you - they know the game and, more importantly, they know their players (they see them every day - we don't). +1

I couldn't agree more. PPC....I know it's really difficult, but just let it go when they try to bait you. Just let Lavon play, smile and shake your head!!!. My BIGGEST worry and what I love about the kid is he plays so damn hard we may have to have a 'bubble wrap' fundraiser so he bounces a little more when he hits the floor! Does under armor make a rubber crash garment? +1 Count me in for the bubble wrap fundraiser. I kept on wincing every time he hit the floor or backstop padding. Even poor Wright had two guys fall on him, one landed on his right leg and all I thought was: there goes our PG. Then he gets up limps awhile and plays on. I haven't seen this type of hustle (with a purpose) since Fran's years . Keep it up!

I don't see how he manufactured the issue on his own. When recruiting, coaches look at what they can and can't live with from a player. Long being in foul trouble is real, Jimmy just decided that Long's other positive attributes out weighed this. It's not a matter of a coach saying he's foul prone we won't take him. Also, to say his high school play has no bearing on what will happen in college does not make sense. Obviously, the issue with fouling has carried over to his first 6 games in college or else KK would not have mentioned it. There is a double standard on this board when it comes to talking about the shortcomings of Long compared to other players. His mother will refute anything you say about him that does not agree with her assessment. That is her right, as well as my right state an opinion. For PPC to say my previous post was a lie is far from the truth. His high school coach at St Joe who coached the McD Allstar game, would tell you Long is a good player who tends to pick up quick cheap fouls. I have watched this kid play for the last 8 years and have a pretty good idea of his game. He will be a good player at the MACC level but must stay on the floor to be effective for Siena.

I just brought Lavon's fouls up as an issue of note amongst all the other things. I really didn't mean for it turn into a major debate. It's just something to watch for since it's evident how important he is to this team. He just puts up stats in all the good categories. He's basketball's version of a 5-tool athlete.
"There's days he doesn't practice great, but he's like our best player," Patsos said. "Consistently."
We need him on the floor.

I like you did not think it would turn into a debate. I was passing on knowledge I had of Lavon's game from watching him over the years. His mother decided to brand those who said fouls had been an issue in the past as a liar. I agree with you that Siena needs him on the floor. He has always been a glue guy who helped to make his team better when he is on the court. Good player and solid kid!

I think it is a legit concern as it would be for any starter. I'm more worried about Silas. Luckily though Jimmy's system appears to allow for this. Gone are the days of relying on six guys to play 38 minutes of stand around basketball.

If it was an other player it would not have gotten out of control. This is why parents don't get on these boards.
