I have a feeling we're going to be among the MAAC leaders in fouls. We might only play 9 guys on any given night but those 9 will change among 10-11 guys depending on who's in foul trouble on any given night. We often struggled with their quickness on defense and that led to many fouls. Quick D1 teams will get us into foul trouble. Fortunately, we have a lot of players to combat it. Not to beat a dead horse but Jimmy has averaged 286th in the nation in putting opponents on the FT line over 9 years. Hence my concern. Complete opposite of Fran and Mitch where we've been averaging like 10th, so yes, you see my concern.

KK I am always enlightened and impressed with your statistical prowess. Thanks. I don't make the numbers. I just put them out there. A lot of people seem to get sensitive about it.

Opponents making FT's isn't the only concern. You don't ewant your best players sitting with foul trouble, no matter how good your bench may be.

I thought Long looked good bringing the ball up the court and then getting it out to the guards, Oliver was moving well and will help off the bench. This team will block more shots than last years team with Ogunyemi, Long and Silas.

It's the kid's first college game. Let's wait and see whether it becomes a consistent paterrn before we concern ourselves with it Mmkay? This was not his 1st game. It was his 6th and he had some issues with fouls in Montreal. It sounds like a couple were cheapies but still we can't have one of our best players only playing 16 mins in a meaningful game. With the new rules it's that much harder. Those were all glorified scrimmages they played in practice unis. The ones in Canada were under international rules that more than one player struggled with. He'll need time to adjust, but he'll figure out what he can and can't get away with and he'll be fine. Silas fouls a lot because he's raw and can't help it. Long by contrast knows the game and will make the necessary adjustments. No need to worry about him being foul prone - if nothing else, PPC will see to that.

Long has been known to pick up cheap fouls his entire high school career. Staying on the floor for the majority of a half was a problem when he played at St Joe. His aggressiveness has been a double edge sword for him. It's a plus on the offensive end around the basket with put backs and rebounds, but it can hurt him at times on defense. He will be a very good player for Siena if he can stay on the floor. Being in trouble against D3 competition does not bode well for the season. He is very competitive but must play smart.

This is not true...can't let it go unchecked. Lavon was not in foul trouble for his entire HS career...he is too smart for that...please stick to the facts..no need to brand him with lies coach. ..at MSJ he was in a 3 man Big rotation and was used as a body to rebound and defend...playing half of his game...he was subbed out of the game at the same time every game and only played the entire game once when one of the bigs was hurt....and that was his best game 23pts on 10-15 shooting and 15 rebs....it did not matter how many fouls he had he was rotated out on schedule.

The facts are that Lavon had at least 4 fouls in a game his SR year at Oakland Mills, playing his game, 12 times in 25 games. That is why there is a small level of concern, especially now playing against much better competition and new defensive rules. In fact its a concern for all of the freshmen and Silas as they need to be on the court as much as possible.

His role was much different at Oakland Mills..and he was usually the biggest and strongest player on the floor in HS...so more fouls were called on him rather than for him ...but that is the life of a big guy that he has learned to deal with....he only fouled out of 2 games senior year and played most of the second half with 4 in close games because he figures it out...no doubt these new rules effect a player as aggressive as he is....give him a chance to figure it out...I believe he will ...you can have your doubts but you don't need to make up stories about what happened at MSJ to validate them...

I did not mention one word about MSJ. Just the facts from Max preps, 4 fouls in half his games and fouling out of at least 4 games. Not a knock but the reason some have a little concern and have posted about it

The truth about MSJ has nothing to do with how the season goes..Siena fans hope that I am right about him figuring it out..and if you were a fan you would too
