Can You, I or anyone else for that matter really put up with Pastos's antics, coaching style or BS for anther year? There was a time that I never would miss a Siena game however I've approached the point where I don't care one way or the other anymore. Remember the reason we have such a "young" team is because of the lousy job Pastos has done on the recruiting trail and the players he's had to run off as a result. Okay, let’s say he goes 9-9 or 10-8 in MAAC play. He now brings back 5 starters, including 2 sophomores who will have challenged for all-rookie honors as freshmen. Then we add a couple of freshmen to work off the bench in Wojcik and perhaps Dom Welch. We’d be a real contender in the MAAC on paper. I don’t love JP’s style, but I’m willing to ride it out to keep a Core together for another crack at it with Nico as a senior. That’s my line. If he gets to .500 in MAAC play, he deserves to get another chance. .500 the year after losing 4 starters is more than satisfactory (and if not for last season’s struggles, might have gotten him an extension). Wow, interesting that you are saying that in 2018-19 he would be bringing back 5 starters (Nico is not starting), 2 sophomores who you seem to think are going to be all rookie material and a couple of freshmen in Wojcik and Welch....Hmmmm...no mention of Senior (Captain Nico). Do you know something that you are keeping from the rest of us?

I've heard a few of the big boosters are in a wait and see and hoping things turn around. Not backing off in their support.

Thinking about calling bull$hit here, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt; Assuming you have not observed the dynamic between Nico/Patsos, Nico/Manning, Nico/Co-captain Degnan, Nico/Rest of team on the sidelines and during TOs?

Don't forget Nico/officials - he self-destructed on his own the other night....for the record, the idea that he has to sit on the bench early on to "get a feel for the game" speaks volumes about the team's preparation and what the staff thinks about us. Nico got the feel the other night - went on a mini-run and then looked like someone in Patsos' gene pool....

Nico said, “And one” thinking he got the foul call, but instead a tech was called! Everybody on this board, knows Nico loves Bball, and certainly loves to win. He would’ve NEVER said, “And one” if he knew the ref would call a tech. This team need actual plays offensively, not just .....under the basket..... 2 pt hits by getting the ball to the big guys! @misspractice your comment about Nico looking like someone from Patsos gene pool...... is very alarming 😱

The flex is totally dependent on taking care of the most finest of details, which JP obviously does not teach.
This is because not only do you not see the details ever being done correctly, you never see adjustments being made or any game time teaching being done to make sure they are done correctly.
It is the primary difference between having a shot at creating many open looks in a variety of ways and having to go one on one every single posession with a hand in your face.
Vermont had many open looks. We did not.
Sorry but that's just very bad coaching.
Those details? Not just running picks off the ball but doing them correctly like they teach you back in 3rd Grade when your first starting to learn the game, and then getting guys the ball where and when they need to get the ball right as they are either coming off the pick or rolling away from a good run off a pick where if done correctly, you should have good position on the defender and many opportunities for good looks close to the hoop.
It's all in the details but details are something that this coach does not appear to teach.

Let’s face it: 2-8 happened, and we probably couldn’t have reasonably expected to be more than 3-7 with the gauntlet of a schedule we had. Now comes the much more reasonable stretch of games, where we have a chance to really find our stride and put together some wins. 12/17: at Bryant (1-10) 12/20: at Memphis (6-2, but have played tight game with several mid-majors) 12/22: Holy Cross (3-6) MAAC PLAY BEGINS 12/29: at Marist (2-8) 1/1: Quinnipiac (3-7) 1/5: Niagara (4-6) 1/7: Canisius (4-6) There’s no reason why we can’t win 2 of the 3 remaining OOC games and at least 3 of the first 4 MAAC games. If the team gets on a bit of a roll and starts to gain confidence, who knows what will happen. If this stretch goes poorly, then I’ll be ready to pull out the pitchforks and start naming candidates. Let’s hope for a big regroup this week in practice. GO SAINTS. Pretty optimistic seeing as Memphis just beat Albany by 9 and Albany just beat us. If we win 1 of next 3 and 2 of first 4 MAAC games, I'll be surprised. Anything better then 3-4 in the next 7 games, I'll be seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Schedule gets easier over next few weeks - I see 4 out next 7 possible. Unfortunately right after that Saints go thru stretch where Siena will be underdogs in 6 of following 7 games. We are 10 games in, so we pretty much know type of team we have. Teams can and do improve. Right now we need a break in worst possible way- team is a mess. We need to get thru next few weeks with no transfers ( dont be shocked if you see any)

Do transfers matter at this point? Who wouldn’t run if their house was burning down.

Don't forget Nico/officials - he self-destructed on his own the other night....for the record, the idea that he has to sit on the bench early on to "get a feel for the game" speaks volumes about the team's preparation and what the staff thinks about us. This team need actual plays offensively, not just .....under the basket..... 2 pt hits by getting the ball to the big guys! @misspractice your comment about Nico looking like someone from Patsos gene pool...... is very alarming 😱 We know full well that Nico is a very talented and extremely competitive player and one needed by this team to be on the floor for 40 minutes a game (an unreasonable target but offered to stress his value). I know full well he wouldn't have gotten the T had he known that the ref would react to his "and one" comment. That being said, his exuberant gyrations and mini-celebrations after hitting shots do attract the attention of the officials who are always on the lookout for taunting, etc. My complaint is not aimed at Nico alone, rather his head "coach" and coaching staff also share the blame for his apparent lack of control. Since his head coach also appears out of control at numerous times over the course of games, especially losing ones, I assume Nico is not getting his "excitement" put in a bottle via coaching guidance or coaching threats aren't being taken seriously. The last several games have seen one of the best players on the team being relegated to the bench due to his coach's decision and/or his own mistakes (fouls, uncontrolled/unwise forced shots, poor defense). Nico is singularly responsible for his "on the court" control. When out of control he, IMO, looks "like someone in Patsos' gene pool". FYI, I don't buy the Patsos offering that Nico needs to get a feel for each game - I think that is smoke to cover deeper issues and some of those issues might come from Nico himself. Didn't intend to alarm you but would hope the staff is alarmed and that someone is working to help Nico rein his exuberance in.

Luckily this is patsos, not beyer/Mitch so I expect a turn around. It’s going to take hard work, otherwise this could end up being the worst season in the history of saints basketball.

I didn’t see it but I can’t believe he got a tech for saying and one. Hopefully it was more than that. Personally I like a little excitement in a player — it beats standing around with no emotion. The excitement should fall short of specifically taunting an opposing player but other than that I like to see that they truly care. Anyway I hope whatever issues are going on with nico are resolved, and his sneakers are fixed too. Sitting him at the start and the end in the biggest rivalry game of the year makes no sense, even for patsos.

I am amazed that everyone on this board was "hip hip hooray" about Nico's chest thumping and emotions when he scored 27 against Monmouth but have to be critical when he isn't a hero. Maturity is a gradual process that each of us reaches at a different pace...Nico needs a responsible guiding hand and SUPPORT from the fans...lets show him we care

So Nico gets a tech for saying and one and the Vermont kid gets up and slams the ball and the ref talks to him👎.I believe in the last year be it pro or college when a player slams the ball on the ground they've given them a tech.
