not so much a swing & miss by JP, Patella would be decent player but not an impact guy................the peripheral BS baggage that came with him was something we could do without and I think you all know what I mean, so we likely dodged a bullet here..................what is a concern though is the amount of time spent on him, that seems very poor judgment, way better players they were evaluating did not get that kind of attention, which is troubling!!!!!!!!!

Me, I worry about more immediate things. Like a poor free throw shooting percentage which can cost a team close games.

Like a poor free throw shooting percentage which can cost a team close games. actually, the team was at 72% FT last yr overall, that is really good........................and sure certain games they will struggle, but that mark is very solid, and that was with Oliver & Nico shooting 58% & 60% from the charity stripe.............with Nico still here and getting to the line a lot, he needs to improve that number......................the real area or focus of concern should really be turnovers..................we really need to have a "positive" assist-to-turnover ratio overall, that will make the difference in having a great season as opposed to just having a good season (most of the ones we suffer are not forced either, just carelessness)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not positive, but I believe Hankla was referring to last night's game in reference to the immediate concern over poor FT shooting.

Once Morsell blew up in the Spring, jimmy's top targets were Oduro, Terry Nolan and Jake Keller. Patella moved up only after Nolan committed to Chattanooga. By the way, Chattanooga Hausas good or better an NCAA tourney history than Siena and is rated higher than Siena in both mid-major polls that have been discussed on this board. While not getting Patella is disappointing at this point, let's re-evaluate when we see who is ultimately signed. I would hope that they are looking seriously at Jairus Stevens of Cheshire Academy, whose dad was the second leading scorer in Iowa State history. According to KS, Patella was not originally as high a priority until after we lost out on others. Does anyone actually "know" how much time the staff supposedly invested or potentially wasted perusing him? Some are saying the staff did and based on this new info are critiquing staff for putting in that time. Before we criticize the staff, shouldn't we at least know how much time they spent? It might not be as much as some think, or maybe some of this new info wasn't available to the staff at the beginning. Seems like sometimes we're quick to find fault.

Patella is over and done with. Not a huge deal. I'd be the same if we signed him. He's solid, but not a difference maker. Let's hope we take advantage of this and go get one for next years perimeter!

Lamb continues to be UVM's best player in his first couple of games. Goes for 18pts, 8reb, 4blk in 19 min of play last night. First game he went for 25pts. Not sure how he wont start for Catamounts.
