The thing that bothers me is how long problems linger. Yes Patsos is still learning but he needs to learn a little faster. Two seasons ago we were killed by fouls...there was no adjusment/improvement as the season progressed. Last season was much better with fewer fouls but the turnovers were atrocious and once again no improvement as the season went on. I would like to see some obvious coaching happening during the season not between seasons. JMO

JMO The turnovers were largely a function of Wright being injured and having a mostly inexperienced backcourt.

One of the big reasons the MAAC is trending down is Siena has been down.

My point is that the MAAC, in general, is trending down a bit and Patsos is, for the most part, out pacing a lot of his competition by staying the same and even improving some. Much of the MAAC is recruiting worse than we are. Would you throw away a guy who has you in the hunt most years and seems like he's still learning but just needs to find a way to turn the corner and start all over? FF may be the 2nd best team in the league next year and they are led by Segura. A mini PG who can't shoot. You could start a backcourt of 6-3 Smithen and 6-0 Richard and they can compete with most MAAC teams if they take care of the ball and put up some points. Half the MAAC teams can't even find a real PG nowadays. If Smithen can manage the game and Richard puts up Kidani Brutus type numbers, you're almost already top 5. Those 2 and Clareth could probably take care of the ball enough to keep us in most games. Half the MAAC doesn't even really have a real PF either so a guy like WB already has been to date, is almost a plus there. I'm not saying one way or the other , I'm merely asking is he the guy or is he going to be the coach who forever hovers around 500? I hope he has a breakout year and lands a couple of really nice players. That'll go along way in solidifying the program. Nobody's gonna argue against a winner. It's losing or mediocrity that'll drive everyone away!

Saintkk your point is exactly what Siena hoped fans would buy with Patsos. It's why the database has eroded so

It is not the administration that's delusional. It's the fans. Siena fans need BCS results from a MAAC school because there's little else to root for in the Albany area. Winning a mid-major conference requires a lot of pieces to line up just right.
The Cluess/Grasso combo is really tough to beat.

You just have to be willing to recruit like they do. Most coaches/schools are not. Iona has just four 4 year players on its roster. It's getting ridiculous.

Glad you like it

Mediocrity = 500 = fans losing interest
It's as bad as Mitch and Beyer only the death is slower and more painful. With Mitch and Beyer you knew the end was imminent with Patsos (unless he turns it around) hovering at 500 how long does the AD go? One, two, three more years? When does it become too late. When is it irreparable?
Patsos appears to moving in the right direction but he loses a lot after this year.

KK made a good point if we have a big season - let's say 25-10 with an NCAA bid - JP is now 77-61 (.558) then the question is how does he reload losing four senior starters? Some drop off it to be expected but .500 or worse and he could be in some trouble - especially if he doesn't win the MAAC this year. At that point he'll have completed 5 years at Siena so it will be plenty of time to evaluate his overall record. Thus far he has two solid years and one bad year. I realize his first year was around .500 but he was left a bag of shit. Last year was a good year despite the disappointment of the end of the season. My bigger question is the AD. I think Siena needs some new blood in that position.

20+ wins a year, multiple MAAC championships will not fully win over some of the Siena fan base. That is okay, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Jimmy's recruiting hasn't bothered me that much. Could he have done better possibly to probably; could he have done worse, definitely (never challenge worse as things can always get worse).

Do tell BM what why wouldn't that "fully" win over the fanbase? I believe some have a personal animus for the man that cannot be overcome by the team's success. They will appreciate the success as a good thing for the players and as a means to allow Patsos to move on.
