I'm happy for the win, but I'm not as enthusiastic as most of this board. Siena clearly was the more talented team yet they struggled and did almost everything they could to lose that game. Even good teams have really bad nights, really good teams overcome that and manage to squeak out a W. I'd like to look at us that way, not saying we are really good, just heading more in that direction than we have in the past. They may have looked like they were trying to lose but, trust me, they weren't and their stick-to-itive-ness rewarded them - that will make them even tougher as the season progresses. Agree. Similar to Fran's teams not playing very well against less talented teams to squeak out a win - quite a few times.

Yes I get it, and I also get they could have lost by two and that would make them not a good team? Not in my opinion, they would still be a good team that threw up a stinker and were still in a position to win. Not to make a comparison, but when the Big Three team went to the season opening tournament and came away without a win were they not a good team. Sometimes teams lose games they shouldn't. Bucknell will be a good team, but they lost last night and probably are saying they should have won that one. Plus, I'll never forget the stinker we played at Marist, down by 12 or 14 with like 4 mins to play, forced OT and Downey & Kenny saved our butt. That Marist team really sucked that year, we had no business almost losing to them in regulation but gutted it out. That's what we did last night. I believe many who still don't like JP may be blinded buy the fact Fran's teams also barely won games when playing like crap.

I agree, the game had a lot of positives and that was one of them. But I also see some of the old problems, e.g., fouls, missing bunnies, missing foul shots, poor passes, etc. That's probably why I am happy for the win, but I remain a doubting Thomas. It has been a long 5 years. As I said, it will take at least a couple of 20+ win seasons and MAAC championships to get some of the most doubting of Thomases fully on board. It is understandable. Let's just enjoy the process and hope for continued success and not jump off the ledge at the first unexpected loss. +1

I was - Hymes had a bunch of stupid technicals Clarification - I'm not upset with any JP T's. I would have been if he got one late in the game last night when he was out of the coach's box by a lot. Sometimes right on the court almost from half court to behind the baseline.

Cellar Rat your reasoning powers are amazing . Do they still teach logic at Siena? You learn more about the character of a team when they win as they did last night than if they won by 15. I assume they do teach logic still. I think the character of the team is a very important component, but consistency and discipline is what will get the program back on top. I saw a lot of positives last night, but I also saw a lot that should be of concern to an astute viewer. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Yikes......... "but Chris Hass misfired on an off-balance jumper after a perfectly executed inbounds play as the final buzzer sounded. " Has a hell of a player. watching him, especially shooting FT lucky he was standing. Gentleman put everything into the game, missed shot tired legs?

By the way Radford beat Penn State last night. Funny, Radford had to play the very next night after we dismantled them. They won easily. Then, they go to Penn State 3 days later and spank them?? Maybe it's time for some to give us credit for beating a real good team, on a "neutral"* court, rather easily. Excuses aside. *fixed

I know, but this is a team that has beaten G'town and Penn St. on the road. Crushing them on a neutral floor is a very good win.

I am hoping to discuss positives more often than not this season even if they win by one point each game.

The team hasn't played very well at home either so it should be interesting to see how it goes... I am counting on bisping being the difference.

Warren Nolan has Siena 53, RealtimeRPI 52 and Conf. RPI Forecast at 54 ... of course it is still very early. These rankings will make more sense by Jan. 1st. Just keep winning and the RPI will take care of itself. Our non-league schedule might turn out to be pretty good besides the two big dogs to start the season.
I think people look too much at the conferences you play against the individual teams. Good chance Radford, Bucknell, Bryant, Vermont, UA, Hofstra all contend for their league championships.
