Well said about Lavon PPC. Before JO was hurt Imoh said he liked coming off the bench, and he played well. Hopefully Lavon can be a spark off the bench and get his confidence back which every player needs. I personally think Ryan will not stay in the starting lineup long because I think he lacks the quickness and lateral movement to defend and shoot like he did vs Iona. No offense to Ryan but Lavon is a big part of our future where Ryan may be just getting us through this year when we can get that athletic combo guard in here.

I am pulling for Lavon to believe in himself and play through his mistakes. He has not been doing that lately. He doesnt care if he starts its the lack of confidence he needs to overcome.

Doug Sherman had this story at 6 but also added that Ryan had hurt his hand in today's practice.

I think this will be great for Long. Off the bench he can let the game come to him and do what he does best. I think he is pressing at the start most nights, almost like he is nervous to pick up a quick foul. Long will be the best one of this class, he just needs to develop a little more mentally and make the adjustments to D1 ball. Long is solid but Wright is hands down the best of this class. And will be for four years

Love what Patsos said about Lavon's game. Sounds like we are not too far away from Lavon realizing his potential and worth for the team. Being a guy that can play in and out and fill multiple rolls takes time to develop. Lavon is a smart guy that will figure that out and stop being so hard on himself. I agree that he brings alot to the table and when he puts it all together watchout!

I agree that he brings alot to the table and when he puts it all together watchout! I've said this over the years when fans criticize players. Fans don't seem to fully understand: How hard it is for freshmen playing D1 ball, attending classes, practicing, and attempting to have a life (friends); Add to this, exceptional talented players who can play multiple positions. Think about this, the player needs to know all the plays for those multiple positions (off & def). No offence to other players, but some players have a hard time understanding their role for one position. Lavon is doing just fine (he's too hard on himself for what he's accomplished so far at Siena). While I agree with Saintsfan that Wright is one of the best freshman on this team, just consider if he had to play multiple positions as opposed to mainly just one (granted he's playing PG extremely we'll for not only a freshman but also as a PG of any class). Just saying. I think we spend too much time critiquing and not enough on the good these players are doing, especially under the conditions this year.

PG is hands down the most difficult position on the floor. Wright is doing so with the quality of a an All MAACer. no slight on Long... hes a good player ... but Wright is the best player on this team. Siena is quite possibly winless without him.

You might be making the case for why Wright was the more important add in 2013-2014 and therefore the most influential this season, but that's because our biggest need was for a true point guard. That doesn't speak yet to who will be seen as the best over a four-year career.

Wright is a flat out stud. I hope he gets serious consideration for MAAC ROY if he can continue his stellar play. Will he be the best in his class? Well if he isn't we're in for another big run because he is going to be the next great Siena PG. I do know Wright is by far the most important player on the team even if he's not the best. Ubiles, Franklin and Hasbrouck may have more talented but Ronald Moore was easily the most important to being a dominant team.

Going into the Manhattan & Iona games like the fact Siena's playing a more veteran starting 5. There is less pressure on all freshmen!

I agree with all the positive comments regarding Wright.
Just saying I think too many are too critical of Long without acknowledging how hard it is to have to play 3 positions coupled with being a freshman.
He's battling against quicker SFs, and stronger more experienced PFs & Cs.
Again I too agree with how well Wright's been playing. Has a shot at ROY. But this article was about Oliver & Long. Hence my comments on Long.
He deserves more credit than critism IMHO.

Not really playing 3 let alone 2 positions. He is a good player. We can acknowledge that he is working hard and that hes good player without saying he is going to be the best of all of the freshman. Those are different statements. I only brought up wright because of the comment you made about long being the best of the freshman.

And will be for four years Wright is definitely the most valuable player this year and probably will be every year. I just think with the overall skill set Long beings to the table he could wind up being the "best" player, maybe not the most valuable player but the best. I hate comparing bc no class will ever be the big 3 but Ronald most valuable, Edwin best of the class... Hope this makes sense! As a fellow CBA grad i think you will understand what I mean

Agreed as Patsos also said Lavon will never play the 1 or 5 but can play 2,3,4 and that is in line with what I said before...there is a pg a center and 3 athletes in a Patsos offense. Our pg is great at what he does...he would be ineffective at any other position and that is the same for our center. We only have one pg so he plays through his mistakes not looking over his shoulder which brings the confidence needed to pull the job off as a freshman. The rest of the freshmen are competing for time with experienced players. Again I think it is a good thing that we are not being carried by freshmen.
