Jimmy Patsos said Long coming off bench shouldn't be seen as punishment. Thinks Long is putting pressure on himself, getting in foul trouble
Jimmy Patsos said he likes Ryan Oliver's effort in practice and thinks he deserves start as a reward. I figure he'd start in place of Long.
Jimmy Patsos says "very good chance" Ryan Oliver still start on Thursday at Manhattan. #sienasaints
It might not be the worst thing for Lavon to come off the bench for a little while. I'm sure he'll still play his 25-28 minutes.
Oliver played well against Iona so he earned some time at SF.
I would like to see a line-up of Wright - PG, White - SG, Poole - SF, Long - PF and Bisping/Silas - C... might be our best starting 5 going forward.

Like your line up but I would have Brett at 4 and Long off the bench at 4. I think having Lavon coming off the bench is going to help his game. Let Oliver back up the 2 / 3 and Hymes the 1/2, Wolfe 4/5 and jO 5.

On coaches show Jimmy said Oliver has put the most time in gym over break and earned the chance to start.
Said Lavon would play same number of minutes but off the bench ... Should help with his game flow & fouls by shortening game (time)

Nearly 80-90% of his minutes have come at the 4

Oliver came to Siena with a lot of expectations. Hopefully he can take advantage to this opportunity. As for Long- even the most talented of players need a " swift kick " sometimes to improve their game. I have no doubt he will "ALL MAAC " one day!!

Good for Oliver finally played with confidence and did what he does best. He will play the 2 with Poole at the 3 and Bisping has locked up that 4 spot..so it makes sense to remove Lavon who will back up the 3/4 like he did in Montreal.Hymes 2 White will come in and play 2/3 Wolfe 4 JO 4/5..This team has options and Patsos is digging a bit deeper for it which is good..we only have one freshman starting now which is also a good thing.. Lavon's problem is mental now..he does not care if he starts..comming off the bench will give him a chance to watch what is going on and fill in the gap that is missing..his mins will depend on how his teammates are doing.

That's where I think pulling this off may help the team become more of a team that will always play hard and not just play hard at times. The battle of the mins.

Think Jimmy was implying that Lavon coming off bench would be less stressful and even if fouling still is an issue he could sill have same number of fouls but would occur later in game/half and could potentially still remain on floor keeping a rhythm/flow going

Hopefully it works out for both players and the team. Most of us saw this coming...

Classy posts by PPC. Lavon has the potential to develop into one of the better players we've ever had at Siena, but we sometimes forget that no matter how talented, there is a huge jump and adjustment for freshman in D1. Keep in mind these are also "true" freshman, not 21 year olds who played a couple of years of prep ball. I'm looking forward to seeing Lavon and the rest of the team develop, let's be patient and enjoy the ride!

I think this will be great for Long. Off the bench he can let the game come to him and do what he does best. I think he is pressing at the start most nights, almost like he is nervous to pick up a quick foul.
Long will be the best one of this class, he just needs to develop a little more mentally and make the adjustments to D1 ball.
