I would think ppc knows more about what is going on in the Siena basketball world having a son on the team and having dealt in the recruitment process with the coaching staff than members of a fan board.
Tony to answer your question. I'm just speculating. Is that allowed?

Another reason for the poor 3 point shooting is the foul trouble. As the fouls mount Patsos is forced to shorten the game, which has led to a lot of perimeter passing and last second gasps. Tough to shoot that way. Also, I would like to see Marquis get a little more agressive on the dribble drive against a zone -- with his passing ability this should open up the three point shooters. White can drive but it is not leading to the 3 ball, generally. Right now the guards we have are for the most part limited in their ability to defend against the drive. If we are going to win more than the amount of games we thought we would win heading into the season, the bigs will have to recognize how important they are and resist the urge to foul a few times per game which will allow them to open up the offense for a longer period.

Papi - not a good assumption. Many of the board members have very good connections all the way up to the BoT and throughout the school.

That's a great point. I saw alot of hands off D. The guys are doing a better job showing their hands on D and the refs were pretty good in the last game..It looks like they are making progress.

You get me.... I am not trying to say ooh look at LL he can do more than everyone else...there are guards and there are forwards with a few centers.. what that means to each coach is unique to that coach...Patsos compares players to pros and loves size...he recruited on a HM level...

@nychoops is also reporting that Marcus is leaving/has left Siena. While no one wants to see someone leave, it was obvious he was not going to be a contributor to the team and has decided to move on. Hopefully he lands on his feet at the DII or DIII level.

Marcus, as I said two pages earlier, is still here folks. This board exploded like a released convict's first visit to Night Moves! Sheesh - nothing has changed YET. Make it rain MP!!! LOL

Long is not the only G/F on the team. Both Poole and Cole are also swingmen that are capable of playing the 2 or 3. If Patsos lands Taplin, he'd likely back up Poole at the 2 for a year before earning the start there, while Cole with share the 3 with Long. There really isn't a logjam at the 2. None of the current players at that position can shoot save Poole. The team can ill-afford a starting shooting guard who can't shoot. That's why Patsos is heavily recruiting Taplin - a combo guard who's a great shooter that will succeed Poole at the 2 while also backing up the 1. He is exactly what the team needs - moreso than a 6th big. If a second school opens, then they can go out and get another big - preferably a bruising back to the basket type instead of the face-up type inside players the team currently has. When you say we already have 3s and 4s that can shoot the 3, I think you need to take another look at this team's three point shooting numbers. Long is a G/F on this team per Patsos...you cant change the facts with your opinion. The only that could ever be true is if Lavon is the 2nd smallest player on the floor. Which I don't think has ever happened. What Lavon is, regardless of what JP "tells you," is a 3/4. Not a 2/3. The actual games will tell anyone that! I'd be willing to bet that Lavon HASN'T been the 2nd smallest player on floor for one minute this season. Next time I see: Wright, Long, Bisping, Wolfe and Silas on the floor at the same time, I'll apologize and tell you I was wrong. (ps-if Poole is on the floor with Lavon, POOLE is the guard, Lavon is the SMALL forward.) No matter how hard you want it to be true Lavon is not a guard on this team, and yes he can handle the ball very well for a forward And I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that Lavon is "listed" as a G/F because it's very, very important to you, and Jimmy knows that.

In a Patsos system the 2s and 3s are guards....and the offense is a 4 guard offense..that is not an opinion. .. it is not the traditional way it is the Patsos way that he explained very well during recruiting and I have seen in his Loyola team and now Siena. ..Lavon is 3-5 from 3 and is a capable 3pt shooter..his role does not allow him to shoot many but that does not mean he cant shoot them consistently.. Every team in the country runs a basic motion offense, but it doesn't mean that every team has 4 guards on the floor at all times.....or even sometmes! lol

What I have been told about mid-year additions is that a college that has all 13 scholarships given out on the first day of the fall semester cannot add a scholarship player mid-year even if one or more scholarship players transfer after the first semester. Therefore, if Hopper or anyone else were to leave, we could not replace anyone who departed.

What he has never played on this team is the 2 guard. Never. Not for one minute. As much as that hurts your pro prospectus for him, it's the obvious truth to anyone that's not related to him, and has seen a majority of this years games.
