Why are you addressing your Patsos concerns to me? I never said I wanted him. I said I don't want any of the final 3. All I can do is hope they pick the least horrible of the 3 and I don't know who that is.

Siena is a "dream job" for Patsos. I don't want anymore dreamers. Best coaches are the coaches that are not content staying at Siena long term. Toole is the man.

I was big on Pitino and I'm disappointed that he won't work out, but I think this is certainly an appropriate list of finalists from which we have a good chance of finding a good fit for our program (I continue to be skeptical of Rhoades but would be very pleased with either of the other 2)

I would have been more happy with Brady, Paulsen, or Warren than any of these 3. I'll root for whoever is picked but I'm not a fan of them.

Ok - we agree on Pitino, I'm not clear on who lost interest there - pitino or Siena. Paulsen was a pipe dream so get over it. Warren I do NOT understand as someone even worth considering at all. And I'm not super clear on why Brady isn't in the mix but Would be a strong candidate. Either way I absolutely see Pastos and Toole as worthy and reasonable competition in this group. What's the problem, you're acting like they already screwed the pooch?

I don't believe any of these three are the guy to lead that. If you think differently, that's fine, I have no problem with that. We all have our opinions. Personally, with the history here, I feel they are going cheap and easy.

Did someone say Brady? Oy. He didn't do much at Marist and wasn't he dying at JMU until he brought Deane on-board?

I think I wrote this before what I want in a head coach -
-Knows offense very well and plays uptempo and scores in the 70's (I don't want a defense first coach) -Great recruiter - not only can identify top talent but can sign it -Runs a clean program - Doesn't have to be a choir boy but runs a good program...no jail birds once in a while you can take a kid that might not be the best student -Good with the fanbase and media -Embraces the high expectations of being the Siena coach and wants to take the program to the next level -Wants to be here... not forever but for a good 4-6 years
I think Toole, Patsos and Rhoades fit all of these traits.

Resources matter, location, history. JMU is said to be preparing a big offer for Brady, which may be why Siena backed off. Furthering my belief they are going cheap and easy. Brady makes $290k and is going to get more. Siena doesn't want to spend.

One of the qualities that i really liked in Fran was his confidence. From the moment he stepped on campus, Fran professed winning and displayed such great confidence. On the other hand, Mitch always seemed defeated and would make these preemptive excuses prior to any big games. His overall demeanor was awful and it very likely carried over to the players. I became so tired of hearing about the "young team" or "tough schedule". I want someone like Fran who is confident that we are going to win right now!

I have to believe that the single most important deciding factor among a group of finalists is personal interactions with the AD. You need a certain baseline level of promise for success of paper (which all of these guys - except warren and rhoades in my opinion - have). Past that it comes down to phone calls, emails and correspondance that none of us are ever made aware of that leads to getting on that short list of finalists. For all we know there's damn good reasons some of these names were left of the list, reasons that don't show up on paper or in the popular press. There was a reasonable list of 6-8 names mentioned repeatedly, 3 seem to have emerged from that list. We don't know why, but I promise it has a lot to do with social/professional intangibles. As far as I'm concerned, the right 3 guys are left fighting it out.

Do these three have some of "IT' whatever "IT" is that makes a good basketball mind into a leader and a winner. Reading posts and tweets are never going to give me that information. I hope that D'Arg is able to recognize "IT" when he sees "IT" in these candidates. It is clear that Mitch never had "IT" and we need to get "IT" back to Loudonville and SOON.

As I said, I respect your opinion and I never questioned it. I'm not sure why I have to be questioned for believing differently. Or be told be one poster I'm "out of my mind" because we disagree. I thought we were adults here.

I thought we were adults here. If this is directed at me, I apologize, I didn't mean to make you feel attacked. I thought it was all a debate in good fun. You've made reasonable arguments, not trying to make anyone feel bad about speaking their mind.
