Right. Unless you have a lucrative TV contract, sports is a loser financially. It doesn't even come close to covering costs...even for BCS teams with 100K seat stadiums. Siena was in a rather unique position (at one point) in that the men's hoop team actually made money (pretty sure anyway). I didn't think about this before, but along with the demographic shift, this anchor on the small private schools is bound to shuffle the deck significantly.

Ironically the MAAC is still getting millions of NCAA units (money) from St. Peter’s runs of 4 NCAA games played. A good chunk of change paid out over the next 5 years to the rest of the league.
This money is divided up within the conference.

No but it doesn’t hurt.

$125K is nice but it is a drop in the bucket. 2.5 full scholarships at Siena. We have 13 on the men's hoop team alone. Sure, it is better than nothing but doesn't move the needle. To put it in more context ... That's a $25 per season ticket differential for Siena (assuming 5K season tix). This also highlights how significant our season tix base is.

Remember, Carm didn’t use 2 scholarships this year so that’s another $100k. $250k almost covers 1 year of his buyout. Who knew Carm was funding his own firing? 😜

Siena stinks. I wonder how much they will raise the prices by next year, or how many fewer home games will they schedule

Siena stinks. I wonder how much they will raise the prices by next year, or how many fewer home games will they schedule A lot of factors in play. Who covers the cost of MVP? Guarantee from Siena or tickets sales? I remember reading Sienas on the hook for that now. Will Carm get another year? How many kids will be allowed to stay? Eley, SD and Ojo are gone IMO, who stays? If the lower level talent and Carm are here next year and Siena owns the cost at MVP a 50% increase in season tickets wouldn’t be out of the question. Who’s gonna pay more to see this product? There’s a snowball here gaining momentum.
