Name another team in our conference that could do this. Besides Iona with Pitino recruits who didnt probably belong here in the first place. This didnt even include losing Pickett and Carey in the portal infancy. We've been affected more than anyone, and our kids not only play at a higher level, they excel. Carm could recruit. Problem is he didnt adjust to reality and his last 2 classes have proven that. So here we are at the bottom of the league with a bleak future unless some sort of change is ultimately made. So could an argument be made that Siena should give Carm another chance, assuming he concedes that he made many mistakes that got Siena into this situation, and has a plan for the future to correct them to put Siena back on the top of the MAAC? Same chance Lanier got? Even though he got us to the NCAA's and NIT in only 4 years?

Best thing Lanier ever did was align himself w/Rick Barnes, already has SMU very competitive

No way you can have a record that bad and remain employed at a program with real fan support. Some people might say “one bad year” but it’s been trending downwards since 2021-22 and we collapsed last year. I defended Carm the last two years but not this year. Most people saw the issues last summer when we didn’t replace the talent lost on the roster.

Once the inherited players faded away and Simon and Wyche disappeared we saw the real Carm. It’s as simple as that.

Best thing Lanier ever did was align himself w/Rick Barnes, already has SMU very competitive We pulled the plug to soon on that guy. Should have required him to add an old timer to his staff if he didnt want to get fired. Truth is, he made more money as the recruiter at big time schools, so he would have been tough to throw demands at.

While Rob was the best of our “bad” coaches considering who succeeded him it was the right decision. A rarity for D’Arg. Too bad an older Lanier didn’t not succeed Fran in a reversal.

Lanier could recruit guards. This is a guards league but he wasn't good with bigs. We were correct to let Lanier go.

Lanier recruited talent no doubt. McClinton's year he recruited 4 players....All guards. Not a good balance. The year Lanier took them to the NCAAs no one is mentioning we had a losing record. We finished at the bottom of the conference and ran the table (winning 4 games) at the MAAC tourney conveniently hosted in Albany. And from what people have written on this message board we only did this run because Prosper and other seniors went rogue and tuned out Lanier.

He was the outstanding player that tournament! You’re spot on with what happened with that team in the tournament.

We finished at the bottom of the conference and ran the table (winning 4 games) at the MAAC tourney conveniently hosted in Albany. The year he recruited McClinton, T. Fisher, Kojo and A. Fisher he already had a frontcourt of Sniezyk (Sr), Haddix (Jr) and Jordan (Jr)...all who he bought in. Maybe we had a losing record in his first year because we played: Providence, Ok. St., Clev. St, Rice, Xavier and the eventual NC, Maryland all on the road. FYI we finished .500 (9-9) in the conference that year. If that was the "bottom of the conference," the MAAC was loaded that year. Winning at our arena is another shot at Lanier, but how many years has the tourney been in our house, and did we win it there? BTW, Prosper wasnt a senior that NCAA year, Archibold was and 2 other Hewitt kids (Cavo and Clinton). Thank God they went "rogue" and got us to the dance.

HJ - we won a PIG game. C'mon man.
Deane beat Stanford Fran beat Vandy and Ohio State
That's winning tournament games.
Lanier could ID talent but he wasn't an overall good coach. He had some problem players as I recall as well. I also recall the players winning that 4 game MAAC run by essentially having a mutiny and disregarding the coach (this could be a fallacy...I don't have first hand knowledge).
He wasn't the worst but certainly wasn't one of the better coaches.
