You missed the point here. Color me shocked. As far as the tournament goes, we won as many games as the 'vaunted' and feared Iona did, who had considerably higher expectations. As HJ says shit happens. Iona loss was more of a shit happening than 240 Siena going down to the 11 seed. Haha! So you’re saying Iona collapsed under the pressure of being the heavy favorite. Does your wall have any open space left or have you managed to completely fill it with the shit you’ve thrown against it? Being the non-competitor you are, it’s not surprising you make up excuses for the favorite to lose. I’ll bet the HOF coach didn’t make excuses.

Iona also rolled the dice, taking freshmen (many of whom like Eley had no other recent offers) instead of trying to get in the mix with proven dudes like Jolly and Joiner like they did last offseason. Are their freshmen more talented than ours? Probably; yeah. And I hate to let you in on this dirty little secret, but they’ll probably get better freshmen and transfers than we do for as long as they have a hall of famer coaching them and we don’t. Unless some of the people on this board who make more money than I do want to start getting us some NIL packages, we’re going to have to win on identifying good kids who are undervalued, developing them and coaching at a high level. This year’s Iona game is proof we can do just that against a more talented Iona team than what they will have this year. Lmao “people on this board” ? You’re kidding, right? Maybe we need an AD who isn’t a dinosaur. We need someone to navigate the NIL process & develop community business relationships like Fran did/had. The program needs to do a better job taking advantage of & selling CD businesses. Siena is pretty much the top sports draw in the community. Success breeds success. Find - hire an administrator who understands fundraising, this new environment & how to work it😎😉! Then maybe we won’t have to scavenge for underdeveloped unknown prospects. BTW there are quite a few non P5 P6 programs without a “Pitino” that recruit pretty well. That’s a cop out! I’m not kidding. The teams winning “NIL” right now are teams with diehard fans dropping bags and creating “collectives”. Would a better AD help? Sure. But at the end of the day, fans who want success need to put their money where their mouth is… especially the rich ones. School can only do so much because there are limitations about what the school is able to broker with regard to these deals… especially in NY.

Fran & co $eemed to do ok generating intere$t from the busine$$ community. The problem is the school took a valuable resource & decided to run a Ferrari into the ground. Unfortunately now we’ve gotten accustomed to & pretty satisfied driving the Wagon Queen Family Truckster in Metallic Pea. youtu.be/4OBN9Qilu8Y

I think NIL will be bigger for player retention than it will be for recruiting for schools at our level… And I do think we could have helped ourself with some portal kids with some $$. This offseason was so weird though because NIL went from barely talked about among recruits in March to a big deal in April to THE deal in May.

We’ll we certainly have the fanbase to take advantage of this. I bought this up months ago that it’s going to take one aggressive alum that starts this up. I have a couple suggestions…lol

Reece Brown of Clifton Park origins to Howard. Did not stay in the west as predicted

Although I hate to say this I have to agree with you. And Iona, with their HOF coach, lost to the #9 seed with a full roster. Siena lost to #11, missing their best player and a kid that started more than half the year. $hit happens. Yes it does… but why so frequently with Siena? When do we get our shit together? There’s always next year.

Yes it does… but why so frequently with Siena? When do we get our shit together? There’s always next year. Covid and untimely injuries have certainly been huge factors in our postseason disappointments. Carms 1st year: No question we had the best team, and were peaking (10 straight) at the right time, but Covid killed that dream Carms 2nd year: We finished first in another Covid influenced year, but had to play Iona, who was the 2nd best team, in the first round. We all know about the 9 pt lead late we gave away. Really missed Hopkins. Carms 3rd year: Lots of new faces, more unfortunate injuries including our best player, and we lose to Quinnipiac. Def a big disappointment.

Regarding NIL and recruiting and retaining players - the impact is real and Siena boosters need to get engage or this will be yet another missed opportunity for the program.

But it would be in our best interests for it not to get to the point where that’s the case. And that starts with the people who care most about the program…
