Agreed, glen. This year's choice will have some added weight because this is the coach that we'll have when the A-10 gets to decide whether the Siena program is worth adding. There are a lot of good candidates and I would get behind most of them, but I gotta say, a "name" wouldn't hurt right now. Richard Pitino certainly has a name. Also worked for his dad, Billy Donovan, and Ron Everhardt at Duquesne, so he knows the northeast and A-10.

Will they do it Tuesday? It could take away from the annoucement of a new Pope. Word is that Father Mullen is in close contact with Vatican on this one. Don't be confused by the smoke coming from the ARC - white smoke will likely be from the contract and black smoke should be the Mark Thomas suits!

S2 - Wasn't Everhardt the guy at Duquesne who messed with Kojo Mensah? I'm not sure that kind of mentor is a positive.

Actually, if you go back and look, I got hit with a huge dose of reality way back at the Maine game. Gotta have fun, anything else is way too depressing. I've learned to love roller coaster rides on the way up, not so much on the way down and the turn at the depths is the pits (pun intended). Let's go Hawkeyes!

So is it ok to fire Mitch now? Come on......don't be an idiot. Just because some people wanted to support Mitch's hire, and it didn't work out, doesn't make them wrong, and open to snarky comments from others. Some people obviously have a stronger sense of loyalty than others. I didn't like the idea of hiring Mitch in the first place. Just didn't think that he had what you want in a head coach. But once the decision was made to give him the job, I supported it (probably longer than I should have), and hoped it would work out. Turns out I was right that he shouldn't have been hired, but I wasn't wrong for wanting to give him a chance, and hoping that he would be successful. Glad that you had it figured out right from the start. Congratulations. And to answer your question...........yes, Misspractice and I (along with virtually everyone else) agree that it is now okay to fire him.

While this is a lovely post and I will certainly take the congratulations about never supporting Mitch, that wasn't why I posted the comment. The consensus seemed to be that Mitch wouldn't be officially fired until after the MAAC tournament. That post was made shortly after the MAAC final ended last night.
