I’m definitely pro-adding at least one more, but for those making the depth charts.... please don’t sleep on Jayce Johnson. He’s going to play a lot. They really like him. He’s a big, big kid who started for three years in the CUSA. Can handle the ball and get downhill. He’s going to play a lot. For a three year starter, Johnson's stats aren't great. He's not much of a scorer, and his minutes declined every year he was at MTS. His shooting from the line and from 3 is abysmal. I don't want to be a contrarian, but everything I see shouts "role player" to me. They've got guys his size coming who appear to have more upside. You've got Colby Rogers coming in, who's a proven scorer, and Taihland Owens, who is an elite shooter. Both are 6'5 as well. I can see Johnson getting time early due to his experience, but then potentially get supplanted later by better offensive players. This is a guy who is primarily a driver, who goes to the basket, gets fouled, and then misses half his free throws. In 3 years, his FT% has not improved - it's not likely to next season either. What do I have to do with this? But seriously I like Johnson’s potential. If Johnson/Gaines/Rogers are all impact transfers and we add another one plus a good recruiting class and expected sophomore jumps from Carpenter and Golson— Siena can definitely push Iona for the MAAC championship.

They might both get 20+ min a game, with one of them dropping to SF once in awhile when Gaines comes out. With what we have now, Golson might be one of our top 3pt shooters, (along with Hopkins and Rogers), that will get minutes. McCollum and Owens are the top 3pt shooters on the team by career percentage - both over 40%. But admittedly that was in HS and may not necessarily transfer to the D1 level.

Load the roster up, we always think we’re too deep until we’re not, happens like clockwork every year. I guarantee you’ll see the same issues we’ve seen in the past, injuries or an unexpected late departure(s). My biggest concern going into next year is scoring. The loss of Jalen and Manny is huge. We have a MAJOR issue. Really hope EJ Anosike signs and we can bring in an experienced PG who can produce. I agree that the kid from Dartmouth / Temple is intriguing....definitely a shooter with nice numbers from the perimeter and charity stripe. As the roster stands I think we can get better by making a couple of well thought out moves. This isn’t a spot where we need to be taking just anybody. Hum Meanwhile back in April …. Manny and Jalen accounted for well over 40% of scoring and 50% rebounding we didn’t do enough to replace their output. We have a solid core of role players but lack an experienced pg and an athletic 4/5 to complement Stormo. Injuries (that we’ve had in spades) departures (Young) happen every year. You need to utilize each scholarship to its fullest potential.

Speaking of Barry, he went for 19 (6-12 from 3) and 8 rebounds, in a Dartmouth win over G'Town last week.
And yeah, Im still fuming over missing the boat on Rumpel and Beagle. NOT actively recruiting those 2 tells me a lot of the programs recruiting philosophy.

In reality, we had no chance for Rumpel who early on was aiming higher. Offered by DePaul prior to accepting Bonnies invite..
