We all know we have 2 schollys left, and theres some debate whether we should use them or not. I vote YES, after seeing how much it cost us last year with departures and injuries. Why would you only put 4 bullets in a 6 shooter? We need all hands on deck, and options galore.
Here's my starting 5 and depth chart TODAY with 12 players:
PG: Carpenter, McCollum 2G: Hopkins, Rogers, Owens SF: Gaines, Billups PF: Golson, Johnson C: Stormo, Young, Arrington
This 12 man group seems light on athletic size, and a lead guard with experience.
Said it before, give me Brandan Barry (5th year) and EJ Anosike (5th year) and bring on the Evil Empire.

Guess i missed it... I thought we picked up EJ Anosike? or maybe i was thinking he would come due to his brother being here at one point.

My feeling is that we are very good as is. I’d really like an athletic, long, shot-blocking 4/5 because that’s a player that is not currently on our roster. For PG, I really like what we currently have and would NOT bring in anyone else UNLESS it’s a real difference maker - an experienced player that would instantly shift us from a top 3 MAAC team to the clear favorites. If we can’t get a guy that caliber (which is obviously not easy), I would stick with what we have. I see no reason to bring in somebody that might be slightly better or slightly more experienced than AC or JM and just hinder their development.

Fill the roster and be as strong as we can be going into the fall. Plus kids can change their minds ten times in 4 months so just build the roster

The other if you have a good player that is ready to commit take him if not I’m OK with holding one (for a midseason guy) since we got a free year from Hopkins and will still be at the normal 13 scholarships.

We always seem to have an injury or two also which also makes me want to fill them. We had two walk in’s playing in key games this year

The the right options are available fill them. HJ's duo are good options, my only question is car Barry play at the pace Carm wants. If so make the offer, if not look for and equal or better option. The worse that can happen is we don't get takers from the guys we offer. If you don't recruit you don't have the possibility of improvement. More players equals more competition and better player development and game preparation.

That current 12 man group doesnt beat Iona IMO. Two more guys that are older and experienced would get us to where we need to be.
I really worry about our perimeter shooting, and an athletic PF that likes to get his hands dirty inside.

Iona is not that great where Siena can't knock them off once, not even close. This isn't Gonzaga, this is an Iona team that will be good but likely not even as good as the Niagara teams we had to beat back in the Fran days.

The goal is to win the MAAC and the tournament. The MAAC isn't going to be a two bid league and time soon, if ever. To do that you need all hands on deck. 13 (14) won't get quality minutes, but you never know who goes down or gets in foul trouble and you need capable replacements, not walk ons.

I'll believe that "uptempo" talk wen I see it happen What I love about Barry as a lead guard is his 3 pt shooting. '16-'17----45.5% '17-'18----44.2% '18-'19----44.5% '20-'21----45.3% Career----188 out of 421 for a 44.6% Have we ever had a kid shoot it that well and consistently??

Except we lost 3 All-MAAC players from a team that couldnt beat them last year. And I'm not including the loss of Harris and Tate. We need an influx of talent.
