So I am kind of in the middle on this debate, I like local kids but don’t necessarily think the should be prioritized over other options unless they are a better fit. I also don’t think much time should spent on them if Siena is their safety school. Truth is, it’s Carm’s livelihood … he has to play with the guys he brings in. That said, Rumpel was playing his 5th game total as he redshirted last year. Looks to be to be a strong physical guard who plays with attitude. Perhaps a more athletic Kyle Downey type. Yeah, Ive seen Rumpel in several AAU games with the City Rocks and am a big fan. He's got a great handle and gets to the rim, or creates, when his team runs. Bonnie fans on their board want him to get more minutes and push the ball. Quack is right, he's a physical guard with great hops. He only played 7 min last the other night, but I guess he's the reason JM got 23 points? I only saw 2 FT's but.....and as far as "staying in front of" JM, maybe im not seeing it right, but I'd say JM uses Stormo high screen most of the time to create. If I’m not correct, Rumpel had the Bonnie’s best +/- on the night.

I looked up Taelon Martin and he has only played two games, both against lower level schools. No stats to speak of

No stats to speak of Played 4 minutes over two games against weak NAIA teams, but on the plus side, evaluated by all-important 40 minutes stat, he is averaging 10 points per game. ;-) To be fair, he might be injured.

I doubt he's hurt since both games were weeks apart. EKU won both by 99 points combined, so..... Probably a better case he's gone since he's seen the writing on the wall. Being the 13th man on a 13 man team as a junior sends a clear message for your Sr year.

Gotta love that everyone freaked when Martin decommitted in March and two months later Carm replaces him with, wait for it...Michael Eley. Sometimes seemingly bad things happen for very good reasons. Anyone missing Martin now? I for one can't wait to see Eley, McCollum, and Bralyn Smith playing together next season. I think Smith has a pretty good shot at starting right away - he's essentially Owens' replacement. That's gonna be a lot of offensive firepower and shooting Siena will put on the floor next season with three guards who can create their own shot. Gonna be tough to defend all three of them. Just thin: McCollum will be the worst shooter of the lot.

Unfortunately you can’t get too excited until we see who stays & what the roster actually looks like. It’s way too easy to jump ship thanks to the NCAA. Dominant programs weather the storm. That’s what separating us from Iona this year. Pitino loses bench guys, & adds players while we always seem to be rebuilding. Better hope Carm can re-recruit McCollum & Eley in addition to the new guys.

Javion has been incredible this year but much like Jalon before him he needs time in the weight room if he wants to compete at the hi major level. JMHO
Sent from my SM-G781U using proboards

JMHO Sent from my SM-G781U using proboards Tell that to the P6 athletes he’s excelled against so far. He most definitely has the ability to step up in class as does Eley. How big a move is debatable, but I’m pretty confident both can make a jump above the MAAC & have success. Although Eley can probably use another year to strengthen his options. Pickett’s been doing just fine btw.

Speaking of possible transfers with the potential to move up. Watching UA getting manhandled by UVA, but I was also taking note of J. Beagle more than holding his own vs P5 comp as a frosh. Still kills me that we whiffed on this local product. Especially on a player who’s mom is a former Siena athlete / alumni. We could have used this kid this year vs Iona’s interior bigs. He’s extremely skilled.

Carm should grab a couple more players from that team. Good point guard and two hood forwards
