I don't think Dunleavy makes 800k. Maybe 600k. The assistant part is almost accurate. I think the 3 make less than 200k, DOBO maybe 20k. We could never really afford good assistants. IIRC Dunleavy took a little less money to make sure he had a big enough assistant pool. Think he’s in the 650k range. The 800k number is likely from a report during the hiring process that Quinnipiac was going to be able to offer up to 800k.

Siena should stay in the MAAC. The model to follow is the one developed by Gonzaga i.e. stay in a mediocre conference and build up your OOC schedule by playing upper level schools like Big East Schools, A-10 and the better known CAA schools. And recruit to be competitive with the OOC schools. Initially OOC games may have to be money games or 2 for 1s and it may take a few years to become competitive but that should be the goal. It worked for Gonzaga and Siena has the wherewithal to make it work here as well. It won't require any increase in funding that moving up would require especially to finance the other non-revenue sports. Also if coach successfully recruits the level of players needed, Siena should win the MAAC almost every year. Attendance, school recognition and revenue would increase. The second step should be for the school to use the students and instructors in its Marketing/Management Department to develop a marketing program as a class or department project to increase average attendance to 8000 within 3-4 years. The goal for the new coach should be NCAA in 4 years or goodbye. There should be specific goals regarding attendance and success in the league (not just "competitive" which really means different things to different people).

I'm one that thought this would have been done and over by now so the next coach could get started on building this years team. Now that it hasn't and the regular signing period has started its looking like the team we have is the one we'll start the season with. Any other thoughts?

One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies - feels somewhat prescient.

Interesting hint by Singelais has he has been understandably pretty measured through all of this. He may have gotten wind on something coming down today. Tick tock.

Siena needs to crawl before it can walk again and the scope of what you are asking is beyond what the current admin can handle... I am not saying you are wrong in your hopes for where the program can be, but as the state of the program sits today, they are light-years away from any of it....

For some here, like it or not JP is the first of many casualties due to this debacle. They may not fall right a way, but give it 6 months and changes will be made quietly.
