Interesting I believe Georgia Tech restructured Paul’s contract when he was let go to pay him less but over a longer period of time. I wonder if DArg was inquiring about how that was done. Maybe we can pay Jimbo what he’s really worth and have the last installment run through 2050. sure, deferred compensation and installments should never be out of the equation................kick JP to the curb now, and pay him $1 a yr over the next 500,000 yrs, that seems fair.............. And pay him in euros - that would clinch the deal....

I'm not a big fan of Hewitt but he's infinitely better than where we are today. Paul left before his teams really accomplished all that much. He did get Siena back to the dance but it wasn't a good matchup. It didn't help that Arkansas's first 7 made shots were 3's. Still, compared to Jimmy, I think we'd be better off. I did hate the insane number of fouls those Hewitt teams got called for. Ugh.

Should Paul ever come in whatever capacity, I can almost guarantee the team would be in the best physical shape possible. As an AD I would guess he would "assist" his coach's re conditioning, etc. Endurance was always a hallmark of Paul's system and it worked.

Currently coaching in the NBA G league. Always liked Hewitt’s style of play.

I know this is just shootin’ the shit, but If Paul Hewitt ever decided to come back to Loudonville, I would welcome him in a heartbeat. Not sure what a typical NBA G League coaching salary is, but I’d wager it isn’t more than what we are paying Carmen.

Hewitt would be a good pick, he loves to run and the way his teams passed the ball, always fast, and lastly his teams free throw efficiency, things Carm promised for 5 yrs. but never delivered.

I don't think it could ever happen. I personally loved the guy. (professionally speaking) Those days were fun and it was a great time to be a Siena Saints fan.

Hewitt was better than Beyer by a lot but I wasn't overly impressed. He coached fast but he didn't recruit for fast. We fouled a whole lot. Yes, I'm being picky and he'd be much better than Carm. I think this crew would be a .500 team with Paul at the helm. That said, he didn't win many "up" games. I remember a holiday tournament at MSG where we got roasted. I think his tournament year we got matched up with Arkansas. Arkansas opened the game with 7 straight 3's as I recall.

Hewitt isn’t coming here, he was around in some advisory capacity when Jamion was hired. We don’t need to recycle names from the glory days. We need to usher DArg out the door so he isn’t involved in this next hire (if it ever comes to that).
DArg is a lazy SOB and mediocrity is his endgame. He thought he had it with Rex and Carm but it imploded. Last thing we need is DArg around trying to hire another guy for 500ish hoops, stability and hoping the HC sticks around for a decade.
The dolts that run this program are happy finishing in the top half, they don’t like the noise about moving up when we win too much and they don’t like the bitching and the threat of losing $$$ when we’re at the bottom. All they want to do is sell hope and season tickets and play pretend mid major. If they were serious about putting together a dominant program Pitino would have been here …. Pitino scared the $hit out of them!

Wonder how much we might see the pool of college coaches decline over the next 10 years. There have to be a lot of guys like Hewitt that are going to see $200k in the D League where all you need to do is coach as a much more appealing option than a college coach in this current era where it is a year round job that now requires you to essentially build an entire roster every year. Even the rare players that do return often need to be re-recruited. And dealing with the NIL bullshit isn't for everybody either. Then there is the financial aspect that has to catch up at some point. Let's say that a hypothetical midmajor takes in $200k a year from boosters for their men's basketball program. For the past twenty or thirty years that money has gone to help pay the coach's salary. Now say $150k of that $200k goes to the NIL collective instead of to the school. How does the school continue to pay the coach's salary?

Too bad it was Carm that got the nil and unlimited transfers dropped in his lap. Someone who embraced the portal and wasn’t slighted by transfers might have Siena rolling even with all the obstacles.
