I was going to copy and paste 1 or 2 of D'Argenio's comments, but EVERY ONE OF THEM IS ABSOLUTELY BAFFLING! I am stunned to think that, after 5 years of this nonsense, there's a rationalization for bringing him back. The program is becoming less relevant every year, to the point that now it's a joke. What was the basis for giving Jimmy extensions through 2021? Were they worried about losing him? This Sunday will be my swan song as a season ticketholder after 30 years. I'll pick and choose games, home and on the road, when it's convenient. But I'm out as a season ticketholder if the program is continuing down the same incoherent path. No more Saints Alive (which I quit a couple of years ago), no more special donations, etc. This is madness--and arrogance on the administration's part to keep asking us to fund a low major program at high-major prices.

Another thought: JP obviously can’t come back with the same staff. Who is gone? Manning is JP’s right hand man, would D’Arg force Manning to move on? Watson seems most expendable, need a good game coach perhaps with HC experience to replace him. Abe is a good guy and a really hard worker, I hope he stays around. I like Abe...Yes I'd fire the other two. Making Jimbo get some veteran assistant coaches. The problem is D'Arg (why has has to go NOW) is too weak and will never pressure him to do that. My only hope is a D'Arg "retirement" this spring/summer get a new guy in who can evaluate Jimbo and then boot him out of town barring a miracle season in 18-19.

Happiest board members today: Hoopjunkie and Papi. That's about it.

Jimmy may not be the best coach but man did he and his agent give Siena a tough lesson in contracts. I’ll bet their still scratching their heads wondering how the hell this happened. JP can be as lazy as he wants for 2 years, the man truly holds the keys to the castle. Kudos JP, kudos. Really insulting to see how much D'Arg lied. But D'Argenio said the length of Patsos' deal isn't a significant factor in keeping him.
"Not really," he said. "I think it's just a matter of, do we think we have the right pieces in place and do we think we can get better? If those questions can be answered, then we keep moving forward."Asked if the team is getting better, D'Argenio responded, "Well, it certainly doesn't look like it when you look at the win-loss record. I think when you look at how the team has competed, Canisius and Rider notwithstanding, I think that they've shown improvement. I think the young guys are starting to understand playing as a team. It gets them the furthest they need to be. In that essence, I think they have made some steps. I think we have a lot more steps to make, but they have made some." The last two coaches that Siena fired, Mitch Buonaguoro in 2013 and Rob Lanier in 2005, both lost 24 games in their final season. Siena will finish with between 21 and 24 losses this season. But D'Argenio indicated those situations aren't comparable.
"I think we just have better pieces,'' D'Argenio said. "I think we have better talent in place that I think has a better upside than maybe those previous years."What a load of bullshit. I cannot wait until he is axed and we have a new AD. D'Arg is a total clown. Bring your wallets to the TUC, morons, everything is AWESOME!! He really thinks we're all idiots. Well think again.

If I didn’t have to get my taxes done tonight I’d open a bottle or four. I know he’s a Siena grad, he’d understand completely but I have to drive. Wait, Uber!

Kudos to Singelais for conducting the interview and asking the questions that I posted here last week needed to be asked and answered. Who was the fellow poster that roasted me for suggesting that JD be asked these questions by the local media? Well they have been asked and answered.
Assuming that JD was being truthful, like it or not, at least we know who is coaching the Saints next season.

This was a Siena press release to recruits masquerading as a news article.

Two weeks ago I said this board was the saddest place on earth. This news will turn it into a dystopian hellscape.

What’s unconscionable is that this coach was given an extension through the 2020-21 season. That imho opinion is just incomprehensible and incompetence at its finest.

That is what should ultimately cost D'Arg his job. The one year after the CBI wasn't good but if that was it Siena would only be on the hook for one year and JP would be gone. The two extension after a decent but not great 21-13 was MINDLESS.

This morning, I had two Siena Basketball sweatshirts left.....one was mine and is now three sizes too large, and one was Prosper's (the first one he got for his sister from another mother). I have burned mine and sealed his in a bag buried in storage.
