Here's the crux of the matter if kids are leaving of their own fruition because of fit or they are problem athletes (conduct issues) and are dismissed I'm fine with the turnover. However if players are being "run off" because a coach needs to make room on a roster or feels they made errors making offers I'm not ok with that scenario. Specially if that scenario becomes chronic. Being a poor judge of talent shouldn't be the players fault, it's on the coach who offered an inferior D1 athlete in the first place.
I'm not going to say what's happening here, because I don't have first hand knowledge. I'm sure their are multiple opinions. I'll leave it at that.
This is a fair statement without going over the top. There are no absolutes here like some people like to contend. There have been mistakes made, I think everyone would agree with that. JP has shown much improvement this year, I am optimistic that there will be more made next year on his part. The recruitment argument is one that will not be resolved. It's like religion, everyone has their own feelings and understanding of how things should be. Philosophically people are never going to agree on this recruitment/ transfer question. I personally think, in many cases, that you are doing some of the kids a favor by helping them find D2 schools where they can get playing time and have more success. Obviously, at the same time, this opens up the roster for Siena to recruit another athlete. I see why many philosophically disagree with the practice but in reality, this is the reality of DI basketball. People on here make it sound like JP and our staff are incompetent because they end up wrong about a recruit's ability to play at this level. Do you think the high majors don't miss every year on recruits ? Come on, get real!
