Maybe I'm wrong but didn't Siena suit up the MAAC's top rebounder and the MAAC's top shot blocker (and DPOY) last night? And, if I'm not correct, aren't they both returning next year? Siena's top 5 is very good ... best in the MAAC. Question is what kind of depth they'll have in 2016/2017. I expect Smithen to be a player that pushes for big minutes. I like what LaRose brings to the table ... question is does he catch up to the speed of the game. I thought Fisher got a bum rap all season and expect him to be much improved. Based on what little I know of Joseph, he appears to be perfect for the point of the zone press. I like next year's team a lot. If they can, somehow, stay injury free that should compete for the top of the maac and ncaa's. Yup, and they let a team that averages 72 PPG to score 84 and to dominate them on the boards. You can't compare a meaningless post-season game where guys are not motivated (different issue if you want) to early season and meaningful conf games. I don't think you can deny what Brett and Javion have done for 4+ months and what they are capable of.

Wait I thought cam wasn't getting any ships at all? (Remember everyone busting on SOUP from maac board here on speculating it was true) now it's okay that he gets 2 more years?
And I thought we were all done recruiting this class as mentioned previously in this thread?
Know that Patsos would have constant roster change the same way he did at Loyola when announced as coach here. I also think we should get used to .505 winning pct

Lots of coach's comments today about a target program rebuild of three years and achieving success (read that an NCAA bid) after only two. We have a HC with a 5 year plan - I guess he built in his historical revolving door pattern when telling us it would take 5 years! 5 for .500 has a nice ring to it!

I'm glad to hear you are having fun and really glad you are so in love with our HC, his style, coaching talent, and management of our Program. But then, I guess anyone would look good to you after three years of MB's record.

But then, I guess anyone would look good to you after three years of PW's record. I'm not gaga over Jimmy. He's done an OK job but he's got a ways to go. He was good in year one, bad in year two and improved this year. I want to see what he can do with four seniors and a top sophomore next year. I expect a MAAC championship in year four. Coaching style - what does that exactly mean? I want to win games. Period. You, on the other hand, lampoon him over and over and over again - which is your right as a Siena fan. But do we need to cause fake controversy? From all indications Siena's academics are fine (i.e. APR). Could a transfer happen? Hello - 2016 in college sports the number is 50% all over the country. Sorry D1 athletes is a business... yeah it sucks that some kids get "pushed" out but that's the way it is now. And I have no idea what Manning meant when he talked about "groups" but neither do you. That's something he probably should have kept in house anyway.

Here's the crux of the matter if kids are leaving of their own fruition because of fit or they are problem athletes (conduct issues) and are dismissed I'm fine with the turnover. However if players are being "run off" because a coach needs to make room on a roster or feels they made errors making offers I'm not ok with that scenario. Specially if that scenario becomes chronic. Being a poor judge of talent shouldn't be the players fault, it's on the coach who offered an inferior D1 athlete in the first place.
I'm not going to say what's happening here, because I don't have first hand knowledge. I'm sure there are multiple opinions. I'll leave it at that.

Basically this is how I feel also ... as much as I love college basketball especially Siena I'm not liking the direction sport is heading . . . athletics has now trumped academics - it seems scholarships are no longer to get a degree but just a chance to get you into the business of big time basketball . . . call me old-fashioned but if school offers a scholarship I feel it is obligated to honor it if student-athlete puts out their best effort . . . the amount of transfers are alarming . . . (although I think part of decision for a player choosing college is the coach therefore I have no problem with players transferring out after a coaching change) . . . I feel it is unethical for schools to poach players from other programs but I would tend to guess there are players shopping themselves around when they blowup in lower leagues . . . the pull of the NBA & Final Four must be a powerful drug that many overdose on . . . just ranting and can offer no solutions

Ethically running off an athlete to make room by making up excuses, such as academic moral disciplinary is obviously a no no. Poaching as hard to prove goes on all the time. NCAA to prevent this once proven needs to come down hard on the school. If a player does not work out, perhaps the personalities aren't there, player has gone backwards I have no problem releasing them with the caveat the school makes sure they land on their feet, ie another D1 D2 school with scholarship. Lets face it everything in life doesn't go as we like, especially true in business which D1 hoop is. Has JP made some recruiting mistakes, yes, again as long as the affected players end up ok it's fine. Btw Siena on year to year or guaranteed 4 year ships.

Honestly, I don't feel too, too bad for these kids. Whether it's 1 year or 5 years they're still getting some education for free at a good school.
It's kind of like feeling sorry for a lottery winner who only won 50k instead of 200k+.
I paid my college loans for 12 years. 'Oh no, you maybe or maybe don't have to pay for your schooling like the rest of us.' Aww. You poor things.
How does not having to earn your way prepare these kids for their futures?
