Looks like we're all done recruiting this year fellas. All our scholarships for '16 are accounted for.
On to '17 and the 3 scholarships we'll have to give.

That is a very interesting comment hoopjunkie. I thought the same at first - but I think that Huerter is walking on next year, then getting the scholly in '17 - hence only three opening.

Very disappointing. This is why you don't make deals. Would have been nice to have a big sit out this upcoming season and ready to play when JO/Brett graduate.

I can understand the legacy guy. I have no problem with taking Heurter whether he works out or not.
I don't quite know what Siena owed the Gottfried's. Gottfried seems like a very good kid and he plays very smart.
But you don't give scholarships to kids you don't think can be potential stars when you're trying to rebuild a program...especially when that kid's father makes over 2 million a year.
And that's nothing against Cam personally. It was just a poor roster decision.
As a walk-on, you absolutely love Gottfried. As a scholarship player, less so, because he's never likely to be a starter.

Just because he's staying doesn't necessarily mean he's getting a ship does it?

Just because he's staying doesn't necessarily mean he's getting a ship does it? my thought exactly. Why not just let the post season play out before all the hand wringing begins.

Listen Gottfried isn’t going anywhere, the plan has always been Cam redshirts his freshmen year— be on ship 3 years at Siena—then after he graduates play one year for his father as a walk on ( and he works on his masters) – that’s been the plan since day one—why else do you redshirt a walk on freshmen? And hey that’s fine if that’s what Jimmy wants to do—but I don’t want to hear any crying about losing 4 seniors next year —because keeping Gottfried will not affect us next year- it will be year after- I just hope to God Siena doesn’t renew Jimmy’s contract until after the seniors graduate.

Yep. Still like the kid, not his fault he's a pawn in some unknown master plan.

So far there doesn't look like a single impact recruit in this class. I mean maybe Joseph...but that's a big if.
If there was, we wouldn't be talking about 1 scholarship like this.
It's the overall recruiting that's been a problem.
For every Marquis Wright or Nico Clareth...there's 2 or 3 guys that aren't even good enough to be top 10 rotation guys.
There are Shawn Montague's to be had. Whether they work out or not, we should be recruiting more of those types. You need all around type players to win championships.
Stop recruiting role players for starting positions.

Technically true - but his debut will be with the incoming class. So there's your potential new impact player. And if Richard is going to remind us of Tay Fisher as Patsos promises, well that dude had an impact too if memory serves.

Actually keeping cam on ship does effect the team, every year... hell it took an act of congress for JO to play this year because his ship was moved to Cam (thats on JO, but point remains). As KK has said, there are impact guys out there to be had, but when you give scholarships to kids who can't even crack a thin rotation, that is a problem, every year. No offense to the player, i would take the 'ship as well, but this roster head to toe is weak overall.
