Have to appreciate Iona fans completely ignoring what is going on behind the scenes at Iona. Haven't found a D-1 coach on the east coast that doesn't shake their heads when asked about how Iona is doing it. Cry me a river.

Haven't seen Cliff Warren mentioned yet. Head coach at Jacksonville for six seasons. Last four seasons is 76-50 at a place that is tough to win plus they play a lot of guarantee games. On brink of NCAA tournament, took team to lesser tournament victories for the first time since the 70s. Was an assistant under Hewitt for 10 years, including several at Siena so he should have good recruiting contacts. Is known as a brilliant recruiter. Style should be right although I haven't seen them play in awhile (too depressed for college b-ball lol). He's 44. I think he may have interviewed for piror Siena head coaching jobs, do not know how those interviews went or if he would be interested again, but this would be a step up in a higher profile job.

He's worked for Boeheim before. Only surprise is a guy his age taking a job like this..... Not for nearly $200k per year. No way he get's that much. Lucky if he gets half that.

Why are we even considering any coaches besides those at the D1 rank? There is a huge level of job enlargement from D2 to D1. The coach needs to be an all around guy, a figure for the school. It would scare me to see Tobins pressers or even Ben. That is if Ben could see over the mic. What's your problem with Tobin and Ben? Both are intelligent, well-spoken and personable, as is Craig Carter. And I can't imagine why you would make a comment about someone's height. What does that have to do with anything. And having no idea who you are or what your athletic background is (pretty limited, I suspect), in a game of one-on-one between you and Ben, my money is on Ben.

As a Fairfield Alumni who was on campus during the "mitch is God era" I saw both the best and worst this coach has to offer. I had hoped things might be different for Mitch this go around, but he just can't change who he is - he has lost the players just like he did during his Fairfield days. He can't be run out of town fast enough.
I am surprised to read this thread as you guys are not throwing around the usual suspects for the Siena head coaching jobs. Most fans around the Maac are throwing around former maac coaches as candidate like Fran Fracella, Ruland, Tim O'toole, Mike Deane or "Gonzo." I wouldn't really look at any of these coaches, I think Siena needs an up and coming guy. I hope your administration brings a little more vision to the process this go around. With OD on your team, its would be impossible to fathom how you went from first to worst in only two seasons if I didn't know Mitch.
As bad as things are in Loudenville right now, Siena can right the ship quickly with the right leader. Good luck.

That was a big problem- Mitch didn’t change at all from his Fairfield days, and the warning signs were there from his 1st game at Siena. I have been following college basketball a long time and have seen many ‘bad” coaches. I can honestly say I have never seen a D1 coach with such a poor feel for the game as Mitch. His substitutions ( or lack thereof) Time out usage – bizarre to say the least and late game meltdowns . Throw in his poor recruiting and grating style on the players- and we are where we are today- in countdown mode till his days at Siena are over

Look, the three assistants just don't have the experience lneeded at this level to right this ship quickly. They too took a career gamble on this regime and it isn't working out. There is no D1 experienced HC worth hiring that isn't going to put their own entire staff together. The dysfunction has to be corrected from top to bottom., coaches and roster issues. The coaches will land on their feet somewhere. I worry more about the disillusioned kids who were promised the moon and an education in exchange for the talent which has either been undermined in this system or not used at all.
