My vote for next head coach is Mike Rhoades. He'll wait Shaka out. We need a guy with D1 HC experience anyway. Most critical hire in Siena history. There's still a chance the conference musical chairs aren't finished until 2015 which gives Siena one final push to hire a great coach and get back on top.

Shaka Smart isn't leaving. There is no reason too. He's making huge money.
We need a good coach not an experienced coach.

Good grief after tonight's disaster I'd settle for Bozo the Clown coaching the team the rest of the year. Wait a minute, he already is the coach. God help us.

We will need more than a high profile name but rather a demonstrated builder Steve Pikiell despite current contract on the list.

Update: Stony Brook's basketball coach Steve Pikiell makes $254,988, including $50,000 he gets for media and speaking appearances and $11,000 in discretionary allowances, according to an updated contract the school released last week. Originally, the school "inadvertently" sent and redacted - an outdated contract, said spokeswoman Lauren M. Sheprow. The school released the complete contract "to correct the error" Sheprow said, but did not indicate whether Stony Brook coaches' contracts and outside income report's will be released in the future.

As I have tried to state before, Stony Brook and Albany have made a commitment to athletics. They didn't go to the CAA in football to be also rans. Both schools have seriously upgraded their facilities as well. I fully expect them to increase their national profile in the next decade in all sports, including men's basketball. Resources and commitment are needed to succeed, and Albany has both. It's only a matter of time.

I would like to see Beaury get a shot. His teams are always filled with CHSAA players, so he certainly knows how to sell the NYC kids on a small Catholic college.

Why are we even considering any coaches besides those at the D1 rank? There is a huge level of job enlargement from D2 to D1. The coach needs to be an all around guy, a figure for the school. It would scare me to see Tobins pressers or even Ben. That is if Ben could see over the mic.

Here are a few thoughts that I didn't see earlier in this post:
Joe Jones - HC at Boston University - had a great run on Jay Wright's staff at Villanova. Some struggles in first head coaching position at Columbia, then joined the staff at BC. Has done nice work at BU so far. Good recruiter, great with donors and boosters - former Saint Carmen Maciarello is on his staff.
Cliff Warren - haven't read the entire thread, but imagine Cliff may end up in the mix again. Has had some ups and downs at Jacksonville, but knows the area, and would have a wealth of resources here compared to Jax.
To add to what others have said, would also be extremely happy with Dave Paulsen. Great coach, and has the pesonality that works with the local media and fans. Would be a great hire.

I agree with all 3 choices my order of preference would be 1) Paulsen 2) Toole 2) Warren 3) Jones I'd be happy with any of the 4..especially the top guy.. Jones a little concerned about his career record

I would also be ok with that ranking, but would argue that Joe Jones could be #1, based on his history as a recruiter at the Division 1 level.
Full disclosure though, I know Warren and Jones well, so I am a bit biased. Have had a few conversations with Coach Paulsen in the past, and he is great. I just don't know him as well as the other two.
