The decision to hire Mitch and the current decision not to fire him until after the season will cost Siena more than a million dollars in both actual costs and lost opportunity costs.
It will take Siena years to recover, assuming they hire a good coach next year and leave Fr. Kevin and his nepotistic, short sighted , do-good , second chance motives out of the decison.

The decision to hire Mitch and the current decision not to fire him until after the season will cost Siena more than a million dollars in both actual costs and Mitched opportunity costs. It will take Siena years to recover, assuming they hire a good coach next year and leave Fr. Kevin and his nepotistic, short sighted , do-good , second chance motives out of the decison. It will NOT take Siena years to recover if they hire a good coach. How many times have we talked about this? A good coach will win almost right away. Fran and Hewitt both took over tough situations and still had winning seasons in their first year. Hewitt went to the NCAAs in his second year, Fran played for the MAAC title in his second year. If we get the right guy in here we should see immediate dividends.

The recovery would be in more than the won - l o s t column. We have all ready taken a hit in attendance and I can't see it going up any time soon. I can't think of a single BCS school that would want to give us a guarantee game. What about corporate sponsors ? There would be a buy out of Mitch's last year plus all of the associated costs. The caliber of our students went up during the Fran years so there is no reason to believe the opposite now. I think the $1,000,000 number is conservative.
