I certainly have no problem with anyone that stops going to the games. Personally, I am going to continue to go. My season tickets are paid for, I like the players, it's a great chance for me to get together with some friends/family I don't see often and I have become friends with the people that sit near me. If it comes to a situation where I can't find someone to go to a game with me, I might opt out though. I agree. I don't think I can bring myself to not go. I will tell you what I will do though. I will not pay for parking. I will not pay for concessions. All Siena mailings and emails will be immediately thrown out or deleted. And I will not buy anything at the Siena store. In other words, no extra dollars will go to Siena college until this thing starts getting back on track. I think a better idea is to organize this sort of boycott and instead pack hoopjunkie's place and other SIena boosters' places of establishment before and after the games. Lord knows their businesses are going to suffer the longer this continues. At the end of the season, if no improvement and Mitch is still coach, I will not renew my season tickets. (Let me tell you, that will be tough, but it is going to happen). A letter by the season ticket holders and boosters will do the trick as well!!

What did you guys expect Father Mullen to say? "Yes, we're looking now - Mitch will be gone as soon as we find a new one, but we'll keep him for the time being."
Get real. Mitch will be dismissed at the end of the season. No way Siena makes a move before then - that's just not the way things are done there. So don't expect any negative commentary from the administration before then. Mullen's answer was very honest. They are indeed not looking for a new coach at this time. But come March, they will be. Ride the season out and relax people.

What my "worry" is we do have talent on this team.. say we start 3-8 but go 11-8 the rest of the way and are 14-16 going into the MAAC tournament. A sub .500 record yes but you know some will spin that Mitch has the team "improving" as the season goes on. I hope that turnaround happens but I don't want Mitch back in 2013-2014 even if it does.

All this complaining sounds like the same old stuff. Most of which are from the ones that did not like the idea of Mitch as coach in the first place. I don't think he will be fired mid season, so instead, use your energy to support the whole team AT THE GAMES that is what real fans do. Stop being whiners. The negative comments on this board don't help anybody.

The negative comments on this board don't help anybody. here's the thing, most of us here are at the games and are still supporting the team/school, that hasn't stopped....there isn't any booing or yelling nasty stuff (well not yet)...........being a fan also gives you some right to an opinion, a board such as this gives folks that forum...........for those that want the negativity to stop, just think of this, anyone out here please give a positive aspect of Mitch, he is now 29-41 as Siena's head coach...........his offensive scheme is abysmal, rarely makes adjustments, forgets player rotations, lack of x & o's at the most critical of times, is just confused in pressers with inadequate responses, flat out misled the fans/admin that he would have the team continue there uptempo style of play...........if there was even some glimmer of hope that things would turn around you wouldn't be seeing all the perceived negative comments, but it's not going to happen!!!!!!!

The question of your continued participation (as a spectator at the TUC) is irrelevant. If you were of a mind to listen to my advice, I would counsel your continued attendance. Hell, you already paid for the tickets. Boo, holler, clap, cheer. It doesn't matter.
The die is cast.
The casual fan is disinterested. Consider that Siena is playing like hell and they don't look like they will turn it around anytime soon. Further consider what a pia the TUC is getting to/from. Additionally, consider that prices for the cheap seats are a tad exorbitant (thank you times union!). Finally consider that time warner will show you the home games for free (cheaper concessions).
This leads to: Big Chief Deane analysis > Five Guys Burger > McD's Big Mac > rat droppings > present state of Siena basketball > Pete Iorizzo's journalistic stylings.
Sorry Pete. Hope I'm not getting too "personal" for you.

HJ, In addition to having the smarts to run the school Fr Kevin actually PLAYED basketball at SIENA. Yes it was D3 then and only a year but how many posters can claim even those credentials? I think he could hold his own on the subject with any of the armchair experts and then some. There is a reason he runs a multi-million dollar enterprise and the vast majority of posters on here do not. So every guy that runs of a multi-million dollar "company" is a genius when it comes to sports? lol Not even cMitch. (the letters l-o-s-e are now being transposed as "MITCH" by the moderaters. )

Lol Ps- I don't know the man, but how he handles this will speak volumes about what he knows, and doesn't know. Waiting til March to address this, will be a total embarrassment to the college.

I gave up my 40 year season tickets after the first year with Mitch. It was obvious that, once again, Siena blew it with the coaching choice. He may be a nice guy and he may be terrific at breaking down film to create game plans, but he doesn't have what it takes to get players to play together or execute. When Fran left for Iowa he offered to bring Mitch along as his top assistant. Perhaps Fran can do Siena one more favor and hire Mitch as an assistant now. That seems to be Mitch's level of competence, as it is with Bob Beyer. Not long ago Siena was mentioned as the next Butler or Gonzaga. Now we can't even compete with America East teams. Our only wins are against two teams near the bottom of the college hoop ratings. Mitch can make all the excuses in the world and fans can say to be patient but this team is heading nowhere, yet there's enough talent to be at least 5-3 at this point. Siena should be able to recruit much better players and be competing for the MAAC title every year. In fact Siena should be striving to join a higher conference. If Siena is only going to strive for mediocrity, let's forget about playing at the TUC and drawing 7,000 fans a game and charging top dollar for season seats. Until Mitch is gone and a capable coach is hired, Siena is destined to be losers.

Im sure that since I'm a UA guy you guys will bury me...but I'll ask anyway I've seen a lot of posts on here talking about Fran this and that. Do you believe that Siena will/should sustain that level of play for eternity ? I'm not trying to bust balls or anything, I just think that there is no way to match that level of play every year. If there was, Fran would have stayed. At this level of bb, it is more cyclical than top teams. Just my opinion. I understand the desire to change things up after this rough patch

No, in this conference it is not reasonable to expect top 50 RPIs and NCAA tournament first round wins every year. But regardless of the "cyclical"nature of hoops, there is no reason why a team like Siena should ever finish in the bottom 150 three seasons in a row. The stated standard here is a post season tournament 7 out of 10 years, with a top 150 RPI and a winning record in most seasons.

It's why Deane, Hewitt and McCaffery (and Orr) never had a losing season. Nobody expects to go 27-8 and win an NCAA tournament game every year. But Siena should never or very very seldom have a losing season. A bad season for Siena should be 17-14.
