This is as big a regular season game as it has been for the Saints in the last few years. Forget the overall record for a moment, the team is 3-2 in the MAAC, one game out of first and playing one of the top teams at home while riding a 5 game home court winning streak. There's even an outside shot they could find themselves in a tie for first after tomorrow. A win here would really turn some heads. Set aside football for a few hours and go to this game instead!

That's a fair assessment. The next step for these young Saints is to take a game against the top teams (MC, Q, Canisus or Iona). No better time than the present for them to build their confidence.
Probably the biggest improvement in this team has been its defense. The Gaels offense should be quite a test.

Iona opens as an early 3 1/2 point favorite on Sunday. The key to the game will be defense (which we've played pretty well lately). We should score 70-75 points on Iona...seems like everyone does. Of course we have to make our open looks outside and especially need to make the bunnies up close (we've missed way too many of them the last few games). Armand is capable of totally wrecking a game - have to be on him like glue. Rob will have his hands full with him. Bowman and Laury are also very good offensive players. Siena 74 Iona 70 - Let's hope I have another correct prediction in store

So, are you going to be in your 'premium' seats? ?

The English kid is good as well. A lot of offense on Iona if the good Iona team shows up, but Siena's D will have something to say as to which Iona team shows up tomorrow. Go Saints.

If not an outright win, coming out 'on their toes' as we say in the horse business, and competing for 40 minutes is critical. I have said before, this team is somewhat enigmatic in that you never know who is going to step up. Last night, we had production from Brett, Evan, Rob, Marquis and Ryan with impact plays. Let's hope Brett continues his progression, especially since his parents have driven from Illinois to be here this weekend (bless them) and support the team. The Wrights are also here for the weekend from B'more - also a long ride to support the team. Rob's dad will be courtside, as will PPC of course, with the video.

Running with them would be a mistake for us. We need to keep the game in the 60-70 range. If it gets into the 80's, I think we're in trouble.

This game is a big mystery and I feel a toss up. Like mentioned earlier you never know which Iona team will show up. Throw in the fact that Laury, Armand and Sledge are far from 100% healthy and you don't even know who is going to start. Armand had 2 pts against Fairfield, and looking at the box score only took 4 shots. Keys to this game will be rebounding and fouls. Points will come. Iona plays zero defense. They will probably just try and run more than usual and try to get the frontcourt in foul trouble. Will be very difficult to win if we put Iona on the line 25-30 times combined with their 3 point shooting.

Another question to be answered is which Saints crowd shows up. The team will need the energy!

Iona game thread? OK, I'll go first. Let me know who wins.
Iona pair of shoes. Iona tee shirt. Iona hat & gloves.
What do Uona?

Another question to be answered is which Saints crowd shows up. The team will need the energy! Crowd isn't going to be the Saints problem- the Gaels will be. This is a tough game for our Saints.Iona can really score the ball, and they are more talented than us. Actually the Iona Manhattan and Quinny games will all be tough home contests for us- all 3 teams much faster and athletic than us. Having said that Siena can win, but Saints will have to play great D and shoot the ball well

Iona has lost its last 4 games on the road. Dating back to December 4, the last 4 Iona victories have come against teams with a combined record of 15-48 (Marist, Fairfield twice and Niagara). In fact, they only have one victory all season against a team with a winning record (Florida Gulf Coast). Of course, Siena doesn't have a winning record and it has only won one game against a team with a winning record (St. Bonaventure), but the Saints are hot at home as previously mentioned. Can't wait till game time.
