Well if Hymes keeps pissing Patsos off Rich may get some time. But what of next year? Hymes Cole Audu Oliver and White = "Logjam". I'd imagine Cole White and Hymes will see the majority of the minutes. Leaves a couple guys at the wrong end of the bench. I'm really not sure where you're coming from with this question, though. Any one of those players can play this year and still leave after the year. They are all on scholarship now, it doesn't benefit Siena to sit them if they can contribute and it doesn't benefit the player to sit if this is his last shot at D1 ball. He needs to come out and prove himself if he wants to stay at Siena or if he wants a new home. I'm just saying redshirt Audu if he has an ankle issue. Get it. You think if these guys sit on the bench for another year or get 2 mins a game they are sticking around? The Hymes thing, just playing on the speculative scenario put out by others. I think KK may have hit the nail on the head........

I think KK may have hit the nail on the head........ I think it is entirely possible that decisions are in flux regarding personnel in 2014-15 with the exception of Hopper at this point. The staff has demonstrated by announcing his RS that they will work with players and their families. We will most likely never know how the exact decisions come down and in this case especially what other concessions may be made. A good student who happens to be a basketball player (but maybe the school, friends he has made and progression towards his degree) will perhaps decide to pursue an alternative financial package to finish his degree on time and not play his senior year. But for now, they are all a part of this team and this is where I agree with Misspractice in that let's take things one step at a time and let this season play out. Even if someone who isn't redshirted this year plays well, the staff may decide to roll the dice with replacement personnel.

I honestly believe Audu will pass Oliver on the depth chart, and doing so helps his chances for next year, whether it's at Siena or elsewhere.

At the end of this year, Audu, Oliver and Bisping will all be juniors. They are all good students and have life plans that do not include basketball. Not likely that any are going to transfer to another D1 school and prolong their college years to play IMHO

JP will have a 3-man class for next year, which would include the RS'ing Cole. no doubt we need a combo guard that can give wright a breather at the point, and can score the ball!!! Also need a powerful, back-to-the-basket low post scorer to go with young, long, athletic bigs. Those 8 underclassmen will be the future of our program.

Can Sterling Taplin be that guy or is he more a pure point guard?

There are D3 kids who aren't stars and make money playing overseas.

Our starting 'shooting' guard is currently shooting 0% from three.
I wouldn't be passing judgement that any player will or will not play just yet. If Oliver continues to make his threes and Audu comes in and doesn't turn the ball over they could both be playing significant minutes. If White proves something more offensively, then fine, we can talk about who is last on the totem pole. So far White has just shown that he can rebound, draw fouls, and cover his man. 5 for 21 on FGs with just 2 steals through 3 games certainly leaves room for improvement.
SG looks like a revolving door to me with the hot hand being played until someone proves they are best all-around option.
My ultimate hope is that White learns to shoot. Right now his Points Per Shot leads the team because he never actually shoots just draws fouls. That's great but it won't last because teams haven't known his game yet. Eventually teams are going to back off him and be less physical making him put the shot up.

I get where you're coming from, but let's face it, this is a message board for people that love this team, and college. 99% of us aren't attached emotionally to the kids, and when recruiting/playing time comes up, no one is trying to hurt anyones feelings, but the topic is very relevant and is a good topic for debate, and or discussion. We're 0-3 and frustration has already set in. When that happens, ways to improve the team come to the forefront. More quality players are needed, and thats evident already. It's tough sometimes, but we all need to remember this is a big money business. How do you love this team, but not the living, breathing, feeling humans that make it a team? Can you not see the trees for the forest?

Both sides of the coins must be balanced and if you cannot see that – you my friend are the one that cannot see the forest through the trees I’m not advocating running anyone off ( that’s not the Siena way) But it’s fairly obvious that two ships will open up next spring- and again I say if you cannot see that you once again cannot see the forest through the tree’s- this is D1 basketball not D3

But they are only Soph's and if in the next 2 1/2 years somebody starts offering money to play a kids game they love, you better believe they will listen. Anyone who loves a sport enough to get to this level is going to keep playing, for pay or for free.

I said cannot see the TREES Through the FOREST. Not the other way around. Yes. It is a business and anyone who thinks it isn't is naive. Even so, EVERYONE deserves respect. We are not evaluating the best Mac ' Cheese, we are talking about sentient beings. Furthermore, we are talking about YOUNG MEN here...not STOCKBROKERS.
