Ok, once again, I don't want to defend Hymes but Wright fouled out. Wright was also getting beat and in bad position. He came in and threw that one shot over the backboard and he allows teams to back off him...yet no one gets on him. Hymes and Wright complement each other. We don't have an all-around stud PG. Deal with it. We do, however, have two guys who both do some really good things. Wright was getting beat because he has to defend 2guards with Hymes on the floor. Hymes jacks up bad shots and refuses to defend in his 3rd season. It's a totally different situation.

Hymes scores 11 pts, has 5 assists, 2 boards and a steal in just 23 mins and AGAIN he's the reason we lost? Come on.

Wright had 4 assists to 2 turnovers, 2 steals , and 1 rebound in less minutes than Hymes, less bad shots, and at least attempted to play defense. White struggled, and had few minutes because of it, but did have 4 points, 1 rebound , and 1 block. Hymes bad turnovers, bad shots, and refusal to defend had much more to do with the loss, yes. And he's supposed to be a veteran leader on this team. Lack of effort and horrible shot selection isn't the leadership I'm looking for. Apparently it's not what the coach is looking for , either.

Siena wins this game a month from now. Excellent game plan, excellent execution - really all game long. That flex offense got open look after open look on the perimeter, mid range and on the blocks. Team looked better with the new defenisive rules, especially JO and Lavon. Marquis needs to figure out how to stay on the floor - that's the biggest issue the first three games. Poole's been great.
Coaching staff is really doing well.

You have to be encouraged by this game after the stinker at UVM. I had hoped for Ws against UA and Vermont but had figured this for a L and maybe a blowout.

The Vt game was a debacle and to bounce back like they did (when you consider what a young team this is) is outstanding!

Wright is a pure PG, Hymes is not, Evan has to commit to playing defense. Evan will play some point this year --well because he has to. Evan can score and he can score in bunches if he plays under control. Evan just needs to consistently play hard on defensive end of the floor. As for Wright-- c'mon he is a freshmen 3 games into his career. As the only pure PG on team, we need Wright on the floor. I'm still excited about team- Freshmen will continue to grow, Oliver had his best game to date today- so hopefully he is getting comfortable with his role, Bisping is playing solid ( and no he isnt better than JO or Silas) but we still need him to give us some min. Hymes had his best game yet under Jimmy-- we need him to continue to accept his role, because we need Evan to be a solid back up to have a decent year For you personally -- and this is just friendly advice- you need to accept fact Hymes- Oliver- Bisping are anywhere from 6th to 9th man on team right now..and that's not a bad thing in Jimmy's system

I'm just here to keep the peeps from overly trashing kids. Come on. Hymes has a good game and he gets thrown under the frickin' bus. Get off your high horses and say good game once in while. Everyone lays off the new kid, but trashes the returning guys even when they have a good game. The team needs both. It's evident. Jimmy's guys don't shoot, Mitch's guys aren't great defenders. We need them BOTH. Accept the players for what they are.

Well that's fine KK-- but you really teed it up by asking where Evan was down stretch -- I mean it was pretty obvious as to why he wasn't playing You did the same thing after UA game-- just sayn

That's why.

Some more stat hits thru 3 games:
Saints now averaging 67 pts a game. Jimmy's Loyola average of each of the last 3 three years. Still, if they're doing that now, I think it ends up being more.
Now at 13 assists vs. 14.3 TOs per game and possibly improving.. Just 4 TOs from being positive...which would be pretty good for this league this year.
Quick hits.
-Ryan Oliver now 3 of 6 from three. -Bisping 4 RPG in 17 mpg, plus 4 blocks, 4 assists, 1 TO. -Hymes averaging 7.3 ppg on 37.5 % shooting, 30% from three, 7 assists, 6 TOs -White averaging 9.7 ppg on 23.8% shooting, but 86.4% from FT line, 3 RPG, 3/4 assist ratio and 2 total steals in 19 mpg.. -Wright 5 PPG, 5.3 APG vs. 2.7 TPG, 1.3 SPG on 31.8% shooting. -Long 11.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 4/7 assist ratio on 44.8% shooting but just 50% from the FT line...in 33 mpg but 4 fouls per game too. -JO averaging 5 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.7 BPG in just 16 MPG (6 boards today didn't go unnoticed).

This team has to learn not to foul so much it's killing them ... Nice effort for the entire game While many fouls called were justified, I still saw way too many ticky-tack fouls called against us in this game. The refs didn't seem to call LaSalle fouls in 2nd half when their fouls actually had a direct impact on us getting to hoop. At one point Late in 2nd half LaSalle had 4 we had 14 (hard to tell since it was only showing 10). Question. Why don't they (NCAA) allow the fouls to continue past the ten now they've implemented the new rule? If they did, I think the refs could react when they see a 4 to 14 discrepancy. Yes we were fouling but so was LaSalle, they just weren't called for them all. Heck Lavon mugged three times on that one man fast break at end of game. Despite this we were still in a position to win.

He's not a point guard, either. And Duren was lighting him up down the stretch. Duren lights everybody up. We actually contained him in the 1st half. Forced him to take 3's. He smartened up & drive the ball in 2nd. It's like we forgot to make him shoot the 3.

Not White's game. Oliver? We were wondering the same thing. He had a good 1st half.
