I don't think anyone is jumping ship. Criticism isnt jumping ship if it's constructive and honest. Patience isn't always a virtue as many businessman will tell you. I'm sure many bb coaches agree. Patsos may outwardly state he is patient, but he is not... And that's a good thing. Maybe jumping ship is not the right phrase, but the first game under a new HC should be taken with a grain of salt, I think. I like what I saw in the freshman, especially White and Long. I still like JO to start, and Wright will gain more confidence as the season goes on. I do hope that Wolfe gets minutes soon, as I do believe he could be the better option off the bench compared to Brett, even at this early point in the season. Oh yeah - I think 4 freshman should start at Vermont with Silas as the 6th man.

I pretty much agree with everything junkie said. With perhaps one exception. I take JO over silas. Credit hymes incredible defense for a number of JOs fouls. - I would like to particularly mirror his comments on Poole. While adding that on this team Poole should now be a complimentary player and not a focal point of the offense. Ive never been overly enamored with his game but in a complimentary role he would be far more effective. The focus of Siena's offense should now be wright long white with nice complimentary roles from poole and JO. Defensively this team will make leaps over the next month assuming hymes minutes diminish. Anyone who watched this game can see experience and free throws beat out a very young but very talented team. That being said... everyone should prepare themselves as this team is going to take some lumps as they hammer out roles. Like i said earlier, Silas played beter than JO tonight, so he gets the starting nod, especially with this already young group. And no, I don't think it matters which one starts at the 5 because it'll be 20 min each anyway. No one is "jumping ship" on Poole. I've always maintained that he's not a kid you build around. He's a complimentary player. He can't take a game over, or create his own shot. This group, as promising as it may be, needs 2-3 more kids from JP's next class to win the way we're used to. Wolfe needs to get every minute that Bisping got tonight. Bringing him along slowly just ended. Hymes taking the point when Wright comes out, gives me bad flashbacks. He's not a PG, or a SG. Right now he's a fast little guy that can score in bunches, IF he has the green light. (how many times did Evan think twice in midair about chucking up a 25 ft 3?) As you saw last night by JP's substitution pattern, no one has that. Mistake, and you're out!! Top to bottom. I get that, but don't expect it all year. I think he's just trying to make kids accountable for their mistakes, unlike his predecessor. ps---they're WILL be scholarships open next year, bet on it!!

I agree with HJ that the dust hasn't settled yet with players from the old regime staying with Jimmy. These kids weren't pushed or held as accountable as they are now. More is asked from them now, bad habits have to be broken.
I thought the decision-making overall by the Siena team last night was significantly better than any one game over the last 3 years. Guys knew where they were supposed to be. Long and Wright are not only talented players, they're smart players. Very impressed with both not only executing on the floor, but the fact they didn't get rattled.

I'm fairly certain he called 80% of all the fouls. I believe he's also the guy that T'd up Patsos although Patsos had it coming.

You keep saying that Brown coached circles around JP?? Did you think that when it was 32-16? Look Browns best coaching move was having a starting line-up that averaged 22 years of age while facing a team that probably averaged 19. That age/experience factor definitely showed up as the game wore on, but stop with the Brown is a great coach stuff. Best thing he ever did was OFF the court when he went to Austrailia for his kids. He wasn't getting it done in the Northeast so he took his recruiting international. That, combined with the JC route, seem to be working, and he definitely deserves credit for that. It basically saved his job, and even got him an extension.

After having a night to think about it-- agreed this team is going to take some lumps. No doubt Poole had a bad game, but I agree some of you are knee jerk reacting. He was definitely trying to do too much, but that's quite a different problem to solve than being unable/unwilling to play defense. Silas looked good last night- still like JO more at C he is much smoother, having said that Silas looked good last night. Jimmy needs to work on half court motion offense- he needs to get Lavon more touches. Lavon has scored inside and when a UA player backed off Lavon early in game Lavon drilled 3 pointer. We need some plays to isolate either JO or Lavon inside-- we do that a few times and watch the defense "sag" off our outside shooters. We also need to organize our break more- so few outside shots off break- it was like if we cant get layup we set up whole offense/ And to tell you the truth some of this is nit picking... we need the freshmen to get more experience-- and quite frankly we need a talent infusion- the sophomore class is a total bust. Game was still fun to watch and I'm looking forward to a fun season-- better days are most definitely coming Great post Tony! Every point on the money in my opinion. I saw enough positive play from JO and Silas last night to make me feel much more positive about the 5 on the team. Work Wolfe into the front line and I think we will be developing some excellent young big men. I'm really disappointed in Bisping. I was really hoping for so much more. All the negatives said in the last 12 hours about his play and lack of development are sadly true. I hope JP stays with him and gives him some small reserve minutes to give him a chance to prove he can continue to develop and/or improve through practice. I don't feel he deserves the minutes he received last night. As much as I have been rooting for success for Brett, I was kind of shocked how quickly JP was putting him back in after poor play on his part. (at the 4 and 5) I would have liked to see Wolfe in his place a few times to give him an opportunity. He couldn't have done worse. Yes, we are going to take some big lumps this year but we have the start of an exciting young team, we need a few more pieces. There is no doubt in my mind that Jimmy will be getting those pieces. The season is going to be exciting with many ups and downs but we saw some wonderful young talent last night. Watching where we go in the next two years is going to be as exciting for me as going to the games. Loved the commentary from everyone! And Click Clack, congrats on your team's win. They earned it. Will Brown has come a long way, and I think he has done a hell of a job with his program. His maturation as a coach has come a long ways.

As I said in my post prior to the season, White will be the best player for Siena. He has a high motor and you can't find a tougher kid. He is willing and has the ability to take over a game. He can shoot the ball don't judge him on one game. He has the body and quickness of a high major and guard which will serve him well in the MAAC. Battle Tested!!
