What's the best parking lot/ garage to park at. I'm coming from out of town If walking isn't a problem then there's many parking lots/garages in a 4-5 sq block radius. If walking is an issue then parking at the TUC garage is extremely convent, as the third or fourth level directly empties to the same level to enter the back of the arena. That's where I prefer to park. Only disadvantage is leaving after the game. If everyone was courteous and alternated politely, then it wouldn't frustrate some as much. That's why we stick around for about 20 mins after the game talking to allow the garage to empty. Almost forgot my original thought. If walking isn't an issue, there's several free parking streets - just have to be willing to walk (like we did in the 90's when we first started going to the Knick in the beginning).

No, you're right. We're not real fans, just better ones, and there's no shame in that. Just don't use phrases like, "watching Siena bb is always a priority to me" If that's true, you'll get off ass, dust off your wallet and drop $15 to WATCH them next Friday! lol I will probably buy the video feed for game or the video package for the year. And yes you are better fans. I just prefer to watch the games on tv. If I got free tickets I would give them away and watch the game on tv. I prefer it. Wow is this that hard to understand. I totally understand, and have no problem with Siena fans who physically can't go the games or prefer to listen/watch. My problem is more geared towards fans who attend and may even be season ticket holders and then make excuses why they don't (or want to) attend - say because the team is loosing. In my mind (I know I'm weird) that's selfish and letting the team down when they need you the most. Boycotting games because you're unhappy with the coach or losses is your right, but don't expect others to have to agree with it. Not saying you're this type as evidence of your comments. Just saying why people that attend for team support may view those who only watch on TV differently. Heck my Dad would never attend (hates crowds), but never misses a game on the radio. He loves listening to Tom, Andy & the General. Mostly the General as he puts it.

Regarding the total costs to attend games. It all depends on how important it is for you. Some may not feel spending the money is worth it, listen to radio or watch. To each his own.
One more story about that 70 yr old women. She's on a fixed income (SS mainly tiny retirement savings). She & her husband make ends meet, get by barely. In order for her to attend Siena games (home & away) she needs to supplement her income. How? She spends Spring, Summer & Fall collecting five cent bottles & cans. She amasses about $700 to $800 then saves any gifts of money for Bdays & holidays.
Where there's a will there's a way. Some want it more than others. In her case she "needs" it more than others. Attending Siena games and meeting the fans, players, player's parents, coaches, etc. keeps her going. She now has friends at different MAAC schools and other Siena fans she's met that attend the away games close to their homes. It's what keeps her young (in heart).

We should get the tv watchers like myself to donate season tickets to that couple. I would be happy to contribute.

Why was the game moved to a Friday opener ? Would a Saturday night game bring a bigger crowd ? Any early indications on what attendance may look like ?

@marksingelais: Siena's Jimmy Patsos said he liked the starting 5 of Wright, Hymes, Ogunyemi, Poole & Long on Saturday. That could be the lineup vs. UAlbany

I was just trying to provide an example of someone that enjoys Siena basketball so much that she doesn't care about the price of admission and is driven to attend as many games as possible (including the away games). The bottle collection is a way to offset the cost of the away game trips. Since so many were complaining of the ticket prices, parking, food, etc., I just wanted to put things in perspective. If you enjoy something so much, you'll pay anything and attend games even if the team goes winless. Sure winning is more fun but to some the games (people at the games, players, etc.) are more important (at least to her). It keeps her young at heart. Her son and daughter-in-law provide her with season tickets to the home games. So, again, I apologize if I mislead anyone. She's proud to be a Siena fan and isn't looking for pity. She has met many people and made many friends while collecting those bottles/cnas (e.g., Softball & Cricket Teams all know her from the park). She'll tell you stories of how they'll shoo away others and say these bottles/cans are spoken for just so they can give them to her. She tells her story about why she's collecting them then they fall in love with her. Again, just a story of where there's a will there's a way.

It's much easier to get out of the city garage at Hudson Ave and Green St about a block from the arena.

Still waiting for comments on quality of Internet video feed ... Up to now have been listening to games over the net I have lived out of the area for the past six years, so I have had to rely on the video feed almost exclusively for home games. Overall, I am pleased with the quality. I connect my computer to the TV through an HDMI cable and with the exception of minor buffering issues at times and the same five commercials all season you can not tell the difference from regular TV. Not surprisingly, I would add that Siena's feed and production is far superior to all other MAAC schools. My apologies, when writing this post the season had not started and I had not seen a Siena game on line in a while. Having just finished a season of MLB.tv, I mistakenly described that experience. The UA game reminded me of how bad the quality of the feed is. I emailed Strech Internet about the quality of the feed and will post the response(if I get one.)

Not sure why you would think I would but it is not important. Great story and thank you for posting it.
