I don't believe it really matters who starts. Jimmy (or his assistants said in the recaps on the Siena site) that there's 9 to 11 guys who can contribute/play.

I think the competition in Canada was comparable to playing the average D2 school.

If Hymes plays significant minutes, this team will finish under .500. Not necessarily true if Wright and White start. If this team finishes above .500 this season it'll be a miracle. Very young and I expect to get beat inside by most teams. Schedule is brutal too. This Canadian trip was like playing the D-3's around here. Doesn't mean much. Fans can to be optimistic, but let's try to to keep it real too. Won't be easy but a "miracle" to finish above .500? Fran finished 15-13 with 6 D1 players... nobody knew what Kenny was going to do as a frosh... or what an injury ridden second year player Kojo could do. Scoop Jordan had a big season...Tay and David Ryan were solid role players but that's really all he had. Hewitt finished 17-12 with basically a ton of sophomores - the most talented being Marcus Faison. Now granted the schedule this season is much tougher...much tougher than when Hewitt took over and probably better than Fran's first year (we did play at Syracuse and a bunch of good mid-majors but this year's OOC schedule has more depth). Bottom line...nobody (well most people won't) will call for Jimmy's head if we go 15-17 but I expect to have a competitive team. The games they need to win are at home. If we can go 10-4 or 11-3 at home and win 4 or 5 on the road we'll be around .500. The thing is we need for this six man frosh class (counting Cole) to be very very good because it is what will have us contending for MAAC championships when the tournament comes back to Albany in 2014-15.

Non-conference opponents that year at Penn at Syracuse Fordham Holy Cross Albany at Mass Youngstown St at Vermont at Hofstra I think this team could easily go 5-5 against that schedule and then 10-8 in the MAAC like Fran's team did. Unfortunately for their record this season, they don't get to play that non-conference schedule. Getting above .500 this season would be a bigger achievement with the more difficult non-conference schedule and a tougher MAAC.

We play 11 games before the pre-Christmas home game with Hofstra on 12/23. I think we'll be underdogs in all 11 games. Could possibly make an argument for 2 or 3 games, but that's it. What's our record going into the Hofstra game? 3-8....maybe?
I'm not sure why people think we'll be over .500 in the MAAC with such a young, unproven team? I think the pieces are in place for a good team in '14-'15 (especailly when Jimmy can pad the schedule), but we're gonna take some serious lumps this year.

We may take some lumps, but it's going to be waaaayyy more fun to watch. Who would have thought that possibly loosing will be so fun to watch for a change? Can't wait for the season to start.
