Many on this board have gone ahead and anointed White the heir apparent for the 2 slot. He may well take that job quickly as is being assumed, but let's keep the expectations in check a bit. He hasn't yet played a minute of college ball, and while he has some clear attributes that make us very hopeful for his success, he is still a freshman. I'm of the opinion that Hymes really should not be starting at the two, but needs to back up the point and add depth at the 2. I predict that our starting lineup for the UA game is going to be: Wright Poole Long Bisping Silas If Maurice cracks the starting lineup, that's nothing but good news for us fans. That means he's as good as we all hope he is. If that happens, I'd like to see this: Wright White Poole Long Silas This because I feel like Lavon is too strong and versatile not to start, and he has a motor from what I've seen. I think the limits on his playing time will be based on how well he can avoid foul trouble. If Silas is unable to reel in the turnover and foul issues that he's had, I would like to see JO moved into that spot. I think he is less of a defensive concern than Bisping. With Audu and Oliver showing well in Montreal, we really do appear to have great depth at the perimeter. Lots of options and fresh legs to enable up and down, pressing basketball! This bridge year is going to be fun to watch while the cream rises to the top on this team. Based on what we have seen heard and read you seem to be spot on here

He's a bit behind the curve not getting to participate in the Canada trip but I like what he brings to the table. I agree Long has to start and/or log minutes he's athletic and tough around the basket. Might as well test White and see what he's got, this is a building year.

I just don't see Lavon as a true 3. I see him as a tweener - 3/4 type player but that's just my opinion. I obviously havent seen him play and my opinion can certainly change. I'm a season tix holder, alumn and long time fan. If there is one thing we agree on is that your son is a talent and will most certainly have a fine 4 yrs at Siena. I'm looking forward to watching him progress. So actually the only thing we disagree on is where we each think Lavon will be more effective. Not a big deal! Yes we are on the same side.

Poole is not a PG and probably won't log time there either. , Poole was discussed playing the 2 spot on this board w/ much disagreement. I really doubt Poole is gonna play all that much at 2 for JP now that we have White. Poole is a predominately a 3. Haha so because t here is much disagreement by a bunch of people on a message board about Poole playing the 2 that means Jimmy is going to listen to you and not play him there. You have really lost touch with reality. Simply go look at his Loyola teams the past few years and tell me how he used Cormier. The first half of last year he even played the point. Hes a very similar player to Poole. Jimmy obviously feels comfortable with Poole at the 1-3 based on how he was used in Canada so i see him being used much like Cormier. No that's a leap only a troll or m a s t e r b a i t e r could make....

Lavon played center for the first 3 years of HS and played 1-5 for his senior year after transferring out of the private school to his zone school....Lavon was a center for 3 years of his career that started at age 3.... He play pg for me before he went to HS

PPC I know you like to say he played center for MSJ but in reality both he and Phil Lawrence were forwards and there was no center. MSJ played three guards and two forwards.

He played Center...only took 1 3pt in 3 years never put the ball on the floor....so it was assumed he could not handle or shoot for the 3 years he was there...He jumped center and defended the biggest guy on the other team..averaged 3-5fgs per game...Phil shot 3's and defended the 4 ...

PPC ... Thanks. Lavon looks to have a lot of skill and can help this team in a lot of ways. I was hoping you would say he played a couple years at the 3 in AAU but i think it would asking a lot of a freshman to play significant minutes at a position he has never really played, no matter how talented. The good news is, he has 2 yrs before Poole graduates to gain some experience and take over as a Jr. I am really excited about the potential this team has. I think it is "an aircraft carrier short" of getting back into top 25 discussions down the road like a few years ago, but it certainly seems to have a lot of the pieces. We are in September now.. only 2 months to go. Waiting for the season to start hasn't been this exciting and fun for a couple of years.

Waiting for the season to start hasn't been this exciting and fun for a couple of years. let me explain....Lavon played center for 3 years in HS....played 1-5 senior year...he played everywhere in AAU in between HS seasons...and has handled the ball all of his life...he has experience at all 5 positions throughout the 15 years he has been playing ...I am hoping we see more of Poole at the 2 and Lavon at the 3...Lavon will play the 4 when the team goes small....Patsos recruited Lavon to play the 3 due to skill set but he can play the 4 due to size....with Hymes moving to the 2 along with the log jam at that position...Patsos will fit the pieces together and Lavon's versatility makes it a little easier

Love the fact that Lavon can play multiple positions. The fact that Siena has multiple players that can play many positions helps us. I realize we're young, but still thinking good things will happen this year & even better things for next year (one more yr of experience with team playing together (and add Cole if he can't play this yr)).
