Fun topic but we all know the realty of the situation. Can’t say a lot but trust me Carm is in major major trouble. I honestly think he needs a minor miracle to be the coach at Siena next year. This isn’t hope but a lot of smoke. If you want Carm gone for sure (and I hate to say it) root for losses.

My wife (PC alum) can't understand when I say that but if you want to force the hand, the situation needs to be abundantly clear. Nothing is more clear than single digit wins and an empty arena.

Gregg Marshall former Winthrop and Wichita St head coach. I know it’s a pipe dream but Iona did it for Pitino. This guy is truly one of the best coaches in CBB before he had his issues. Isn’t it the Franciscan way for a second chance? He’d make Siena elite again while rebuilding his reputation like Rick— stay for 3-5 years before getting a HM job which would be fine with me. Wow I forgot about him. Not a bad thought. This subject is fun but honestly, deep down, I don’t think Siena has the stomach to relieve Carm of his duties. You mean $tomach … alums would have to show up at Siena Hall w the check… Carm will get another year to redeem himself.

Jordan Fee and Ben Howlett were mentioned earlier in this thread and also mentioned in this article. Just a matter of time before one of these guys gets a shot in D1. Jordan Fee and Gannon are ranked 5th in D2 currently at 25-2. Josh Schertz (Indiana State), Jerrod Calhoun (Youngstown State) and Tobin Anderson (FDU, Iona) are recent D2 coaches who’ve had success at the D1 level at difficult jobs also.

Hey Gannon gave us that 6-11 gem a few years ago Michael Tertsea (ap) that Siena fan had pegged at the next Patrick Ewing

If Fairfield wins the MAAC (which is a distinct possibility), they'd have no choice but to remove the interim tag, and give Casey a 5 year deal. Leaving the best candidate for Siena, Luke Murray from UConn. Id say he'd jump at his job a few years ago, but now, not so sure. Who knows if we could afford him? But he'd def turn this around immediately. BTW, his father, actor Bill Murray, could be a nice NIL donor for his sons first HC job

I don’t know the schools finances like others here. I can’t see a scenario where you bring him back. Has there ever been a D1 coach brought back after this many years and such a bad season?
To replace him, get someone up and coming with head coaching experience even if it’s at the D2 level. Someone who wants to recruit and has experience running a program and actually filling scholarships. The bar is set pretty low. Ability to draw up an inbounds play would be a major upgrade over what we currently have.
I’ve seen NIL brought up and how siena can’t compete. You don’t have to out recruit the ACC, just the rest of the MAAC. That shouldn’t be hard when a recruit sees a game in an arena with 5-7k vs St Peter’s and the rest of the dumps in this conference.

Coach Matt Lee, Herkimer CC head coach, the best Xs and Os coach you will find. Lee's 2019 team was NJCAA Division III National Champions. Since 2003, Lee has 13 regional finals appearances, seven Region III Championships (2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019), eight Mountain Valley Conference Championships (2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 2021), and two 3rd place, three 4th place, one 5th place finish and one 7th place finish at Nationals. 2021 NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Championship - Consolation. This season Lee's team is 21 wins and 2 losses. Matt Lee is not a sexy name to head up Siena's mens basketball team but he has done much with not a lot at Herkimer. Coach Lee is an excellent game coach and has an eye for talent. www.herkimergenerals.com/sports/mbkb/coaches/index

this is just a post to show you an amazing situation...........look at Vermont, John Becker is now in his 13th yr at UVM, his lifetime record is now 308-119 (his record in the AE is an astounding 180-31).......in those 13 yrs, he has won 20 or more 12 times (the only time he missed was the covid shortened season).........counting his soon to be AEast tourney championship he now has 6 NCAA's, 2 NIT's, 3 CBI's (1 season of course was cancelled because of covid so he has only missed post season once), 9 reg season titles (2nd- 3 times, 3rd- 1)............prior to UVM he only had 2 seasons at D3 Gallaudet U where he was a horrid 6-44.............

After Gallaudet (brief stint) he was an assistant at Catholic and UVM under Lonergan - where they were quite successful. That period covered approximately 8 seasons. He’s a guy I wish we would had pursued.

Siena wouldn’t get a look from him because he is tied to Patsos.

Bottomline, he isn't going anywhere just like Tom Brennen.
