If things don't turn around, these are some names to keep an eye on. No inside information, these are just guys that I think are potentially attainable and qualified.
Joe Gallo, Merrimack- From NJ, has had success at Merrimack even considering their transition to D1
Matt Capell, St Thomas Aquinas- From Buffalo area, protege of Tobin Anderson, has maintained STAC as a D2 power
Phil Martelli Jr, Bryant- From suburban Philly, Paid dues as an assistant for years despite famous coaching father, has Bryant playing well so far
Jordan Fee, Gannon- From Western PA, Mid 30's, In first year at Gannon they are 16-2 and ranked 12th in D2 while averaging 106 PPG. Last year Gannon went 3-23. That's a shocking turn around.

Will Brown with Elijah Brown as assistant. Brian Buery as volunteer mentor. Everyone would say “lazy” hires and they’d be right. Mitch (Fran’s top assistant) Jimmy (Long time MAAC coach) Carm (Siena alum, assistant for one year) Time to think outside the box.

Will is proven winner at this level and hard worker. I think the couple years doing other things has given him the right perspective for the current landscape. Elijah is a good assistant. Great communicator and winner.
Let's face it Will has all the characteristics to win quickly at Siena. Bringing in a young, inexperienced D1 head coach (aka Carm) could kill this program. I'd be opportunistic and pounce on this opportunity asap.

You hire professionals to set up a search committee to find next coach.

What would be the criteria you would give the committee?

You hire professionals to set up a search committee to find next coach. Hasn't Siena burnt money on that multiple times and then wound up with the exact same pool of candidates that have been suggested on this forum? I'd rather put that extra money into the salary.

I have no interest in Will Brown being the next Siena coach. There are plenty of other quality, qualified coaches to pursue. Time for new and fresh AD and HQ. No more easy lazy hires!

I don’t know that to be the case. Perhaps it was just the once to replace Patsos with Christian. As the article cites though, Quinny had just used a search firm to land Baker Dunleavy and St Peter's to land John Dunne, hardly under the radar hires. My perception of these search firms are that they eat a lot of money just to provide the same list that the forum could put together in a few hours. I'm not saying the forum should be picking the candidates but you pull together the top ten boosters and will wind up with the same list that a search firm will get, you've made the boosters happy, and you have extra money to put into salary. www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Siena-hiring-search-firm-to-find-basketball-coach-12842368.php

Some guys I’d consider:
Josh Merkel - Randolph Macon Ben Howlett - West Liberty Josh Loeffler - Cincinnati assistant (previously HC at Johns Hopkins) Matt Logie - Montana State

Is the Siena job that hard? We have the best facilities, alumni support, media coverage, and an administration that stays out of the way of any coach. I just want them to hire someone who has done this before at D1 level and can get us back to contending for the league championship every year. The right candidate would enjoy working with the alumni and community while being able to help with fund raising. Show up at a couple banquets and shake a few hands. The NIL collective will have all the resources needed.
